For his part, Sinatra was also quite complimentary of Vic. “If I had one wish,” Sinatra once said, according to the Songwriters Hall of Fame, “It would be for Vic Damone's tonsils. Vic has the best pipes in the business.”
Folks please share this kind of music with the young people in your life. Maybe they won't throw away Taylor Swift for Nat King Cole or Bobby Darin, but it's important that they learn that there was a style of music before Post Malone or whatever the heck his name is.
Would you believe we used to get The Minstrel Singers and Mitch Miller on the Radio in Australia when I was just a tot. Mum was an avid fan and therefore I was as well. I haven't heard from them in all those years since. Times change but my parents with their group of friends used to have their "sing-alongs" much like the karaoke 🎤 of today. Singing is good for the Soul.
Outstanding voice I always love to listen to him sing. My singing voice is the same -- it is deep as his was, but I always have trouble as most songs are not that easy to sing with a deep voice. But, he always did an amazing job when he did.
Louis Armstrong his scorching voice was made for these songs. What a beautiful human being it was, and an awesome trumpet player. Mum and dad loved his music so much. My folks are long time gone now. Gosh…I miss them.
This should would be canceled today: Too wholesome, too "square." and too many white guys. (And the gorgeous and talented Leslie Uggams too.) But it feels so good for the soul. Miss those TV days.
