Well I waited a couple of days for this one to heat up and get all sides of the story. If you watched this weekend's World Supercross race in Abu Dhabi then you know, the story of the race was Vince Friese. If i'm being honest, I think Vince is a very good rider and would be a crowd favorite if he would quit the over aggressive riding. Will he ever do that, probably not…
Anyways, in this video were going to look at Friese’s recent interview in which he explains his side of the story, and we’ll go through all the rules vince friese broke and the appropriate action that should be taken. Lets get into it.
Race 1 lap 2. Vince Friese is leading the race when they come around to the start where Aaron Tanti and Justin Brayton were down with injury. Friese jumped on the red cross flag.

Yes the red cross flag was a bit hidden as the flagger was in between jumps, so that's something they should work on fixing but Friese along with Wilson jumped on it and I believe Moss and Savatgy may have as well. With that being said maybe they can overlook this rule break considering the flaggers false positioning. But if not, Friese just earned himself a 2 position penalty.
Race 1 lap 8. Vince Friese is running 2nd after Dean Wilson made a clean pass on him, then Friese proceeds to cut inside on the corner thus cleaning Wilson out.

That was a clear example of unsporting and or reckless behavior during a race. According to the FIM World Supercross rulebook, this move subjects him to anything from a one position penalty to a disqualification.
Now lets take a look at what Vince had to say about his aggressive riding and track cutting. Friese spoke in a post race interview with Troy Guenther saying “If you put a bunch of money on the line, like we have here, and put us on an arenacross track, I think that is the way it is going to go. At least for me, I’m not here to just ride around and have fun - I’m here to make some money, pay my bills. That is what we are doing, we are battling for a position. If these guys want to take it easy, they can take it easy, but I am going to race hard.”
“Honestly, I don’t know what happened, whether I got a penalty for it or not, I just know that I got third overall. But, I mean, it is what it is… if it was wrong, then I will take the penalty. I’ve read through the rulebook, but it has been a while - round one was three or four months ago, so maybe I’ll give the rulebook another read-through. It’s hard to say if my front wheel was ahead of his or not, but yeah, I just tried to ride slowly.”

This guy is a mental case! He gets a start then blocks, cross jumps, brake checks, cut's the track and center punch's riders. He's going to hurt someone really bad at some point. I think the riders need to take it to the point, where they refuse to race if he's on the gate.

Friese has a weird view of racing. He lives by the philosophy that 'If you're not fast enough to win, then take out the one who is'....... He thinks it's some type of gladiator event, that's why he say's he's having 'fun out there'......What scares me is that there's a lot of so called motocross fans out there that think his style of cheating is cool, and have no problem with it.

Disqualify the whole weekend like he didn't race happens again out of series don't get me wrong aggressive passes cool break checking cross jumping and entering track infront instead of giving up position not cool but the reason for MY harsh penalties is because a few of these guys racing sx next yr no need to ride like an idiot or someone just take him out right off the bat you wont have to worry about it

Aggressive block passes used to be common and makes for more excitement. Cutting the track, brake checking on jumps etc is unnecessary.

Cross jumping is where i mostly draw the line, but rubbing and block passes are fine imo. Some people couldnt hsve raced in the 80s

He needs to go. At best, he's a mid-pack rider that is great at starts and holding everybody up. Having somebody out there crossjumping, brakechecking, cutting the track, crashing everybody... makes the racing suck and it's dangerous.

He's not going to change. Think about it, this is his brand. Contaversy sells. history lesson (Madonna, Dennis Rodman, Earnhart, ect) he is a skilled rider, but not enough to stand out from the Pro crowd, This is he's brand, his image (he most likely did'nt plan) unlike Brian Degan vs Pastrana. Who would he be if not the villian?? forgetable, unfortunatly., that said, I was screaming at the screen for Wilson of Joey or SOMBODY to put Friese into the cheap seats!! Honestly, I was left feeling like the others were a bit of a P........ for not putting him on the ground and then doing a burnout on his bike. I do not like how he rides and he angers me, BUT, I must say, it sure is entertaining to antisapate and cheer for somone to step "down" and bust his ass, LOL OH, did I miss spell a bunch of words?? heck, I even misspelled miss spelled..... well, that's me cross jumping and brake checking on my keyboard, Braaaaaapp!!!!! eat my roost baby, LOL

All Pro Riders should refuse to line up at the gate if Friese is there. This is the only way the FIM and all other bodies will do what is right. Completely irresponsible riding. I am all for aggresive and good racing, but this is intentionally negligent and can result in broken bones, and possibly, a life altering concussion. These riders are fathers, and sons that do not deserve to race with this wreckless rider, putting them at serious risk. I respect everyone's opinion, not looking for a RU-vid comment battle. Just think that he has crossed the fine line. To not take any ownership, just shows why he has no fans.

He should not be allowed to race at all. He is too dangerous for the other riders. His kind of behavior is not just on the track, guys like him sooner or later get into big trouble because of being unable to control their rage.

No it doesn’t. It makes the racing dramatic. I’d be fine with Vince’s hard riding if he was using clean block passes, but he runs a little be that destroys any chance of carrying any exit speed just to saw off other riders front wheels and when that doesn’t work just cuts the course. While I do care for his “block passes” the big issue is cutting the course is just piss poor sportsmanship.

Not just a narcissist on the bike but in front of the camera. Claims he’s innocent and everyone else is guilty. Gaslighting by saying he didn’t do anything wrong when the cameras clearly show the truth! Jack Nicholson code red is long overdue! Vince doesn’t have a problem the other riders do! Formula 1 banned drivers or suspended them. Why not the AMA/FIM?

He should be banned, in my view. I have watched him do this stuff for years and has been getting away with FAR too much. He is a danger to other riders. I'm sick and tired of it, as are the rest of my family. Friese wrecks our spectator experience. We want to see racing, not bumper cars and demolition derbies.

when you are constantly having to defend your actions, it's a red flag that maybe you are riding dirty or unsafe. One thing I can't stand about supercross is when someone who knows they are much slower, holeshots, then try to take the faster riders out. it's an embarrassment to the sport. if you holeshot and you are so good, you should pull away.

That's pretty much what I said but with Barcia or Anderson. If they did it they might get a warning but where Vince isn't a top tier rider he gets the short stick. I raced against a guy like Vince that would take you out for a trophy only. But the couple tune he took me out after seeing it in video I couldn't really argue as I was cutting down just like Wilson did and his like was a perfect arch through the corner

He's an outright liar. One sentence, "Honestly, I don't know whether I got a penalty for it or not..." Next sentence, "They had already told me I got a penalty...." Ride aggressive, sure. Don't risk someone else's safety. This isn't Hockey, You're riding a machine that could easily rip someone's leg up and end their life.

When Joey pushed him off the track he he really should of went around that jump and rejoined, instead he went straight avoiding a jump a corner another jump and kinda another corner, that's straight up cutting the track and qualifies as DQ in my mind there, from what i seen anyway he could have easily rejoined after that jump safely and as such would be the nearest safe place to re-enter the track. His move on Joey though i don't believe would be enough for a penalty and even the one on Dean arguably wouldn't be penalty worthy on a track like that, even though as a family friend of Deans family i hated to see it. His constant cross jumping though needs to be addressed as dangerous riding, that in my opinion is the biggest issue, and a major safety issue. Even when Dean passed him in the whoops he tried everything he could to squeeze Dean into the tough blocks.. i hate seeing that and the FIM, save AMA have got to start calling people out on it. That's my opinion anyway.

Jumping on red cross should never be allowed without penalty. Irrespective of poor flag positioning. WSX can improve flag locations, but they tripled out *after the flag* and should be penalised. Moss and Savatgy rolled the "triple out" (I think, if not, penalty for them too). The issue with the Wilson incident is that *you've* judged it unsportsmanlike, it's a subjective view, there is nothing objective about that decision. After the decision is made, the penalty is a slam dunk, but I'd disagree that it's unsportsmanlike. He used available track surface and took Dean's line away from him, he had a wheel in front at point of contact, that incident was fine in my opinion. see... subjective judgement. Track cut 1, could be argued that he entered the track at bigger deficit to wilson. I'm ok with it. Took Savatgy's line away from him, using available track surface. Savatgy payback incident was clear he took advantage from being off track, left track even with Savatgy, entered and remained ahead of Savatgy. Blatant examples of "agressive riding".... so? Riding can be aggressive. Barcia waves to say sorry afterwards and it's all good.

Man I’m not even a Vince fan but when he got knocked off the track you can see he slowed down but savagy still had to do the S turn. I thought the rule was just get back on the track as safe as possible without gaining a position. They were even when he went off the track and he didn’t speed up to “pass” savagy there was nothing he could do other then go straight just because of where he got knocked off. When you get off the track are you supposed to just stop and let whoever it is by?

No problem at all with the move on Savagy The brake checking is annoying as it disrupts the flow of an already tight track. Red flags should be at the takeoff of jump not mid rhythm...

To be fair, Joey's and Dean's passes on Vince were also very aggressive. They returned the favor. Why aren't you suggesting a penalty for then too? Joey knocks Vince off the track and vince cuts track in front of Joey, which would end up being fair if you penalize Joey's aggressive pass on Vince. This is arena cross style racing and you have to expect slams in the corners if you want to win.

All I saw was aggressive block pass's, not one single T-Bone. That one time he went of course he came back on and didn't gain a position, the other time he did. I have no problem with him being aggressive as long as it's not a T-Bone. Thats racing, if you don't like it, watch tennis.

The pass on Wilson wasn't a block pass. He might not have gained a position the first time but he definitely gained time. That's a penalty. The second time, he literally passed somebody when he cut the track. There's nothing wrong with aggressive block passes but cleaning somebody out isn't a block pass and cutting the track can have a way bigger impact on the outcome of a race than the one or two positions he was penalized for.

His passes were fair. No different to what we've seen a million times. Rubbin' is racin'. The track cutting however deserves to be penalised. And if you could give penalties for being a douche he would be DQ'd.

I'm not a fan, but check out arena cross, which Vinnie boy has done for multiple years...sort of explains his unorthodox Supercross style : / Concerning your 'potential penalties' - Taking Savage high, no issue. Taking out Deano, definite unsportsman like behavior. Cutting the track when Savage returned the favor, nope. Friese's front tire in front of Savage's at point of him going off track...Friese kept his cool and did not race to reentry point...in short, the penalty handed out was accurate, IMO.

The riding was fine IMO. Block passing is part of the sport. The track sucked big time. The block pass policy should have been emphasized before the race which effectively meant exciting racing and passing were discouraged. Jumping the red flag and cutting were worthy of penalty, although, I accept his explanation of it.

I blame MCR team management for a lot of this. They could have snagged someone like Ferrandis instead of keeping this loser. MCR has had commenting turned off on all their social media because of this clown for a YEAR. The FIM should ban this idiot before he actually does hurt someone. It’s a miracle that he didn’t seriously injure Craig back in 2022. Enough is enough. Nothing but bad publicity.

I can't stand this guy but I will admit, it makes things interesting that he starts so well. If he was bad a starts, we'd never even know who this guy is. This riding wouldn't have raised as many eyebrows back in the early 90s, but the sport has evolved since then and we have enough injuries to deal with without this guy knocking people down. His excuse makes no sense to me because if he's trying to make money and that's why he races hard, well he gets penalties and loses positions because of it. So he makes no money. As far as cutting the track, he straight up cut right through an entire section...no brainer there. Should be DQ'd. I think this will eventually be settled on the track...anybody have Peick's number?

excepting the track cutting and not relinquishing positions when forced off track. I personally like the aggressive bar bangin. Cover the inside. Its supercross 101. Especially when a guys right on your ass. We've all seen this a thousand times over the yrs from much bigger names than Friese. Guys have made last turn passes just like this to win championships for God sake. Without some aggression out there (within reason of course) supercross wouldnt be what it is today. Just look back over the yrs and the on track battles just like this that keep the fans coming back and the riders pumped.

You know if your gonna tbone someone deliberately didn’t care if he broke dean wilson leg, big grey area in this sport people need to be held accountable for there actions especially if they don’t get penalties for it , it creates more dangerous people wanting to get revenge witch is fair if it happens , anyone can cut corners and ram someone it seems because the crowd likes the action but it’s cheating in my opinion

if it was only 1 or at most 2 incidents but 5 the bastard should have been straight up disqualified these slap on the hand punishments arent enough to stop him from continuing his pathetic ways to stay in front of riders that are without a doubt faster that dont have to cheat obey the rules and are 100% more sportsman like and can atleast own up when they do wrong ! The guy cant even own up to it and thinks hes an angel that does no wrong hes by far the most unliked rider in the sport both by fans not to mention every other rider/racer he competes against in my opinion hes a complete disgrace to the sport and its completely sad after all the incidents hes been involved in he continues the sleazy friesy ways and until he gets the punishments he deserves hes gunna continue this garbage and will continue to get away with this BS!

I like Friese I'm all for aggressive racing but sometimes he does go overboard. Remember when Zack took Joey out last lap? I think it's depending on the situation.

That's the dumbest comparison, come on, dude....it doesn't even involve Friese. Why not just use any agressive riding in last 6 or 7 years as a comparison? The move Zach made was for an actual title on the last lap after comint back from dead last, anyone would of done that for a title and it's totally understandable in that circumstance. He shouldn't of even been in the position to get put down by Zach, he completely threw the anchor and out himself in that scenario, Zach took advantage of it. You don't see Zach doing this every race anytime anyone gets near or passes him, you also don't see him cutting the track when passed, nor holding up everyone in the top 10. He's a sociopath, im not even joking, you can see it in his eyes, demeanor, lacks emotion, along with any concern for anyone elses saftey and blames everyone else for his shit. He'll even lie to people like we don't have a brain to see what happened... last year he tried paying someone to take out Brayton, yet still managed to play the victim. It's time he either quit racing, get DQ'd anytime he starts cross jumping, every rider he takes down give him what Peick did (Vince left him alone after), it's the only way he learns.. Every guy who gets near him needs to take his front wheel out from underneath him or aim for his leg, let's see him he still 'has fun' out there, he'd be the first one complaining...or everyone start cross jumping him specifically since he thinks it's acceptable. He's going to severly hurt someone before he ever gets dealt with by the officials, he's shown time and time again what his intentions are. Christian is lucky he was able to walk away unscathed and get his title that year after the move Vince pulled in the sand...its not good agressive racing and block passes, he always aims for riders legs/knee, he's a danger, plain and simple.

Bro, if you’re gonna wait to put out the video, thats fine but then you didn’t discuss what the penalty amounted to as far as the finishing positions? Does He still come out third overall? I doubt it because that’s what He was given right after the race and if they had already decided to dock him then that should have been brought up at the race in the interview room. Makes a circus out of it f you ask me. What if everyone rode just like that every corner? It would just be a cluster F! He should be dq’d imo.
