Vince is 66 and is now touring with the Eagles - one of their members died and Vince has replaced him. The harmonies he and Patti make are amazing. Same, too, for him and Reba.
She is Patty Loveless, another Country Music Hall of Famer. (On the track. The woman in the video is Matraca Berg, who wrote “Strawberry Wine.” Just a fun fact.) Patty and Vince are two of the greatest voices the genre has ever seen. They have soul like nobody’s business. And Vince also happens to be one the best songwriters and guitar players, in any genre. He won at least one Grammy for every year in the ‘90s. He’s currently a member of the Eagles. If you want to hear more, check out “I Still Believe in You.” Also, unless I’m missing it, it looks like you only reacted to the Home Free version of “Go Rest High on that Mountain.” If so, you must hear Vince do it.
He was in a band in the 80’s - I think it was Pure Prairie League. They had several hits, the best known of which is “Amie”, originally released in 1972 and rereleased in 1975. Vince joined the band in 1978, and that’s the version I know.
Vince is another Oklahoma artist that popped on the scene in the late 80s with Garth Brooks, he is pretty awesome to see in concert, at least this family of Okies thinks so! If you did the Home Free cover of Go Rest High On That Mountain, the version Vince and Patty Loveless did at George Jones' tribute was so beautiful but even more difficult to listen to for me (it's a song he started writing when Keith Whitley passed, but he didn't complete it until his brother passed away). Patty instinctively knew when/if she needed to come in early, she just performed with him that often.
That's Patty Loveless harmonizing with him. Check out their performance at George Jones's memorial service. They did Go Rest High on That Mountain and due to his emotions, she had to step in with some vocals. It's beautiful.
One of the most famous duos in all of country music, Vince Gill and Patti Lovless. If this doesn't make you feel something........... hmmmm, check for a pulse! Big of you to cover a genre you are not intimately familiar with, much respect brother. TY for sharing this, enjoyed your comments and enthusiasm.
Vince Gill has been around 1977, as a member of Pure Prairie League and their big hit, "Amie..." He has plenty of country hits and a whole lot of Grammys...
That is the amazing Patty Loveless . Talk about a voice , that's a rabbit hole worth going down . Her solo and duets . Vince Gill played with Pure Prarie League in the 70's , solo in the 80's until current . He has been sets in with the Eagles since Glenn Fryes passing
Vince Gill and Patty Loveless, have done many collaborations. Their voices together are amazing! Some of the best harmonizing you will ever hear! Love your reaction! And by the way, you have quite the voice yourself!
I believe this was Vince's first big hit, with Patty Loveless harmonizing. Two of my favorites! Vince is also an INCREDIBLE guitar player. Great reaction!
Vince is accepted by the greatest musicians as one of the greatest guitar players ever. Patty Loveless is also a hall of Fame voice and is either a niece or cousin to the great Loretta Lynn.
Omg you did an oldie Vince Gill. WOW didn't think you'd like this one. It's one of my favourites. And from the comments "I still believe in you." Miss you
Watch his tribute to George Jones with Patty Loveless. So heart wrenching. She sang backup on this and was there with him for him during that emotional performance. Go Rest High On That Mountain. Written for his brother that died and sang at George Jones’s funeral. You won’t be sorry.
I've seen Vince Gill perform live many times and his voice is just as clear and amazing live you should check out Patty Loveless song You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive
Funny story, as a young white mom trying to help my "new church youth pastor" guide the choir children what they were LACKING. I Literally later realized it was SOUL! Never realized I sang with it and and wanted it in my music until about 10 years ago! LOL! It was hard for me to explain it to them
Gill is also one helluva guitarist. Maybe check out a CMA video episode from about 12 years featuring Vince and Sting together! Amazing jams. You sound pretty good yourself. Thanks for your reaction.
Vince spent time filling in with the Beach Boys back in the day. He turned down an offer to join Dire Straits. He is considered to be one of the best guitar players active today. The lady in the video is Patty Lovelace, who he recorded this with along with other duets. He still does solo work, and has also joined the Eagles. His talent seems endless.
My favorite songs from the incomparable Vince Gill are I Still Believe In You, Tryin’ To Get Over You, Whenever You Come Around, Say Hello, Look At Us, Don’t Let Our Love Start Slipping Away, One More Last Chance, and The Heart Won’t Lie (duet with Reba McEntire).
Everyone is talking about his voice, which is beautiful, but don't forget the man has some real guitar chops as well, check out the A&E version of Oklahoma Borderline
Vince was a Rocker in his earliest days, though with a country twang to it, with Pure Prairie League. They had a few good hits. Then he took the dive into full country and a solo career. He did the tour rounds for years with good success. Then everyone realized what a good guitar player he was. He began sitting in with other famous performers as a guest guitarist. Personally, I really like his voice and nobody wails like Vince can. He can pure break your heart when he gives you those high-octave painful wails. He "retired" for several years but I guess the music pulled him back in after Hell froze over and he's touring with the Eagles. Love the sound they make.
He's got a great standalone voice but this man can harmonize like you wouldn't believe. He adds so much to a song and often you don't even realize that he's singing. My jaw hit the floor when I read how many country songs that he is singing back up in and nobody ever knew and it is tons and tons of them. Pretty much Carrie Underwood's first 3 albums damn near every song had him singing back up. I never knew and you can't tell until you listen to it and actually try to hear it. But he's definitely in there. It is dozens of songs that he sings and that people don't even Know about.
Vince Gill is an artist that has been around seems forever. No big ego- talented on instruments, some songs he backs up other singers and just loves the music. One I can’t stop listening to is a duet he did with Carrie underwoid featuring her vocals ‘How Great Thou Art’ the live performance at the cma girls night out several years back - 10? That one is amazing with Carrie’d vocald not of this world!
