Even though I was about 14 years old at this time, I had no idea what he was talking about. It was so weird to see this, yet I still had no idea he was the owner. I thought he was just a spokesman.
I always found it shady how Jesse Ventura got fired from WWF after being there six or seven years and maintaining a strong fanbase years after he had to retire from wrestling. Always thought the official reason that he allowed his image to be used by SEGA was bogus. Chances are Vince used it as an excuse to fire him; Ventura was one of the few personalities in the company who could overpower Hogan's personality. And Shawn "I didn't know Playgirl was a gay magazine" - Ha!
Jesse also wanted royalties for when he was featured in videos of calling wrestlers matches. Jesse won 800,000 dollars or something like that because Jesse found out only the wrestlers were getting royalties when all the other talent was not. There was a period of time where on DVDs released by WWE, Jesse Ventura's commentary was muted even though you could hear the other commentator. You can hear Gorilla Monsoon and then a lot of silence on some matches which made it extremely awkward. His commentary was later added back years later. Jesse also said Vince was angry because Jesse Ventura was already trademarked by Jesse himself. Vince wanted full control over his wrestlers and Jesse was too smart to let Vince get away with it.
They certainly were not clean if tested, but the allegations where about if McMahon and the WWF distributed the drugs and roads to the athletes. Sort or like most of Mr. Olympia competitions, the IFBB didn't test for steroids, but also didn't provide them either.
The whole case was about if Vince distributed steroids to his wrestlers. Hogan(who was in WCW at the time)and his testimony was the main thing that saved Vince. We all knew the WWF wasn't a clean ship, hell,I don't think any wrestling in the 90s was. But distribution is a different story, and because of Hogan's testimony, Vince won.
Vince McMahon has dodged so many bullets over his career. The Sex scandel, the Steroid scandal, the Monday Night Wars, Owen Hart's death and the Chris Benoit incident.
Same Here as well his vocabulary helped me in throughout my years in school as well as my current career and has yet to fail me I don't know where I would be right now if it wasn't for him and other people I watched as a kid and teen and I still use it today.
I remember this as a kid and it was weird.. and it's even stranger now knowing everything and the fact he wasted WWF TV time on giving his naysayers the time of day and on something he was already aqquitted of in federal court.
quite often a guilty party can be known to go out of their way to persuade people of their innocence. people who are genuinely innocent won't feel the need to defend themselves against accusations or become enraged or upset dwelling over the matter.
I don't like Mushnik, he has an ax to grind with professional wrestling and he is a lying sack of....let's just say dirt. But as for the rest of it, the steroids case had merit. Steroids were delivered to Hogan, Vince knew about it, and the drug testing they were doing at the time was a joke. (Explain how you have Ultimate Warrior, Rick Rude, Hulk Hogan, and British Bulldog and still claim to run a clean shop.)
Ill be honest ot sure rick was on the gas..he was ripped his whole adult life never bloated never huge..if hedid it was test or growth in a low dose.davey def..he put on 30 lbs of muscle in like one year huge stetch marks and traps..there in all sports even pitchers use them..to me there like weed..both should be legal..
Vince can really speak, he should of been the one to run for senate instead of his wife, he would of probably won to if he ran but too big of an ego to let someone else run WWE while he's in office. There have been so many accusations against him over the years and decades but he has always managed to come out on top, you can argue that it's cause he has money or his power is what wins his battles for him but I find the most people that have had problems with him seem to be the shadiest of them so its hard to say who is right and who is wrong because no one of us were there.
thekd911 Give me a break. What are you smoking? Get off the Vince Kool Aid. Absolutely no chance he would win Connecticut. Connecticut is a solid blue state.
No, had Vince been convicted, Gino Marella (Gorilla Monsoon) would've been The Chairman of the Board running the WWF. He was also Shane & Stephanie's godfather.
For many years I modeled my speaking pattern after Vince in school, workplaces,University and business overall his vocabulary always helped me find success time and time again in both pleasant and unpleasant times in my life thanks Vince I don't know where I would be right now.
The ONE CHARGE they couldn't get him on, he was acquitted. He won. But he did overlook steroids in the 80s, if he didn't outright condone top stars using them. Just like WWE's drug policy in the 90s (pre-public offering) was obscenely loose (how many guys have copped after the fact to popping this and snorting that during their prime and yet they still stayed employed?). It's happened before, and unfortunately, it will happen again.
Wow, I was watching at this point but don't remember this at all. So odd to see Vince sort of step out of the "just an announcer" role and into the CEO role on WWF TV. Vince really has an impulse control problem, fueled by his ego. If I had been brought up on federal drug distribution and racketeering charges, the last thing I'd do in trying to promote my family friendly business is actually call attention to said charges on TV, especially if I had already beaten them 2 years earlier.
I Remember When He Did This Promo But Vince McMahon After All That U Turned Right Around And Put The Business U Claim U Love In The Worst Possible Shape It Can Be In Your Father Is Turning Over In His Grave RIGHT NOW Watching U Destroy It Your Grandfather Jess McMahon Too I Think U Have Done It This Time And U Will Never Recover If U Do It Wouldn't Surprise Me Stranger Things Have Happened But VINCE MCMAHON IF U GET YOUR BUSINESS BACK And That's a Big IF Don't Disrespect The Fans They Might Forgive U This Last Time But Enough is Enough Don't Ever Forget THE FANS Why Because Without Them U Are And WWE Are Nothing Without Them..........
Hogan was a tremendous draw and had long staying value and power being on the top while HBK was given everything to on a silver platter due to his control of the Kliq, forcing superstars to cower to his threats of verbal abuse and contractual firings (Koko B. Ware got fired for simply fighting Shawn despite witnesses saying Shawn did it). Hogan did way more to build the company and keep it in the limelight for so long that anyone has in the history of the business.
Vince would not push a wrestler unless they had a body that only steroids can build but he's not responsible for wrestlers taking steroids? In the words of the Miz..REALLY? REALLY?
Guys tell me the truth what is all about wrestling these days ?? i wanna be pro wrestler but i dont know if its profitable i mean i start to think that wrestling is just all about money and wrestlers are just toys..
Who says you can`t get smarter by watching wrestling. Jim Ross taught `you son of a bitch!`` ``slobberknocker`` and King taught me more about the female human anatomy than my phys ed teacher did.
His ego made him waste viewers time so he could say nanny nanny boo boo to the feds, prosecution, and press. You catch him looking to the right at times when he is lying. Then he takes the best roids money can buy to have the physique he has always admired. Well he’s got fuck You money and he’s going to do what he wants until death comes knocking at his door and then he has to be accountable for all the wrongs he did for self preservation, like covering up Jimmy Snooka’s murder...etc etc
