As a kid, Undertaker's sleeves added to his intimidating aura. I think he was one of the few active wrestlers at the time that had his whole arms inked out. The tattoos definitely suited him.
Not really. When he started to do the whole tatted up sleeveless riding on a bike with the black bandana thing he lost his look. Just looked like your every day average Hells Angels wannabe generic biker. Meh
Well, thats a load of bullshit. Shawn Michaels, The Rock, Goldberg, Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes are just some of the names who have or had iconic tattoos that suited them all to a tee.
Taker was born in '65. if some of y'all think people from around this time can get old-fashioned, imagine their PARENTS. he was already an adult then, but I understand his parents not digging the ink
He sounded like he was literally made at the tattoos. Just because you heard him speak on not asking him first doesn’t mean he liked them, the simple fact that he was upset about it says he didn’t like it
I mean when your a control freak bro youd spazz about anything! like vince couldnt curl the thought of being left in the dark when he was the gm over wwe LOL
Last time I bought a car, my friend immediately started screwing around with the seats and I got pissed. I imagine Vince felt similarly when someone screwed with his cash cow without asking permission.
@whosaidiwantedahandle started screwing with it how? Like just adjusting how close or far away from the dash it was and how far he leaned it back? If it’s just the passenger seat then why would you even care? It’s not like you’re gonna be sitting in the passenger seat anyways. Even if you did and let someone else drive it’s not like you can’t just readjust it either. Seems like a rather silly thing to get pissed about, maybe just calmly and respectfully request him to not do that instead of biting his head off over something with such minuscule amounts of importance
I’m so glad Mark finally broke character completely and is telling stories about his career, he’s been there through almost everything thats happened in the WWE 😭
Well, I mean he 'does' own The Undertaker Character & likeness. He'd have been a fool not to copyright everything & anything he could in those days cuz Dubbya-Cee-Dubbya. Mark Calloway is worth like $55M nowadays so it's not exactly absurd for the man who made him a MultiMultiMultiMillionaire to have a few rules about his appearance - Being his Appearance is also the product - which belonged to Vince/Titan/WWF.
As a very young lad during 1999/2000 when bad ass taker came back i had no idea who he was until i seen the tattoos and i was like yeaaaah i like biker taker
Yeah the more & more Vince stories about his creative direction come to light the more I’m starting feel Vince we really just the boss that took credit for everything !
Undertaker is the kinda person we ALL need to take lessons from. A gentle giant that’s soft spoken and uses common sense and logic. He really has given a lot to us and the fans in general. Thanks deadman
Even as a kid, i never thought twice about the tattoos. The reaper essentially with mystical powers? Tatoos almost feel like they should have been part of the gimmick to start with, honestly.
I mean I always wondered why a supernatural entity would have tattoos like a normal person. I got back into the suspension of belief once I started seeing other supernatural characters portrayed w/ tattoos on tv shows and what not😂
Worst still Vince would have the talent banned from breaking wind around him. After the grim news of what he done behind closed doors, it makes you question whether he feared getting turned on 🤢
In fairness, since they are playing characters they need to look the part. Cutting your hair, getting tattoos and piercings, shaving facial hair, etc are drastic changes that need to be approved. Imagine if Tom Cruise shows up to do Top Gun 2 and he's overweight and has a long beard, that's not the Maverick we know. Then there are things like action figures and video games that use a wrestlers likeness. So if a performer wants to make a change to how they look it makes sense it needs to be approved.
We're talking about the same man that tried to book himself into an incest angle with his own daughter, but flipped out when a writer tried to change the script from a white guy saying "I also have a dream" on MLK day.
It’s unbelievable that Vince didn’t approve of the tattoos. The tattoos really added to the element of undertakers character. Now, undertaker has undergone many changes with gimmicks like his American badass gimmick for instance. He had things that helped stand out in the gimmick like sunglasses and long trench coats and bandanas to enhance the look. Undertaker getting tattoos really enhanced his character a lot like just him adding another layer to his character and made him look more intimidating and more dominant and tough.
But on the flip side ,it also shows how much he cared about the Undertaker 's character and the longevity of the Undertaker speaks for itself .Pulling of a character like that would be imposed in today's time
I kinda understand why Vince would get upset, you gotta think about a wrestler changing their looks without a heads up. Wrestlers are made into toys, video games, posters and a million other things. Its going to make their products look old if somebody buys a action figure for the first time and then seeing a wrestler have a bunch of tattoo that the action figure doesn't have. This was in the early 90s wayyy before social media, so people couldn't be updated as quickly.
Mark Callaway, I love your tattoos that you have on your arms and neck! You are awesome wrestler and I loved all of your matches! Enjoy your retirement with your family! I'm glad that you wrestled for over the years!
