French filmmaker Vincent Moon travels the world with just a backpack, a laptop and a camera. He’s filmed Arcade Fire in an elevator and Bon Iver in an apartment kitchen - and single-shot films of a Sufi ritual in Chechnya and an ayahuasca journey in Peru. In this talk, he explains how film and music can help people see their own cultures in a new way. Followed by a performance by jazz icon Nana Vasconcelos.

I met Vincent Moon in France and got a chance to talk to him. He is my cinematic hero and I learned so much from him. His films are so intuitive and his vision is so simple and clear. I love his works.

Was at Vincent’s public talk in Moscow yesterday. He is so inspired man! And one thing he didn’t say at TED - he prepared before shooting his film thoroughly, but in the end it is always improvisation. It gives you more involvement and intimacy.

He looks so much like an Italian dude I used to know. Even the quirks remind me of him.
