i have a theory. i've watched the anime but i'm more inclined to the manga. much more concise. Anyways, i think Vincent Phantomhive's father is Undertaker. If you read the manga i hope you can understand my point of view.

Cherry Undalos. I don't think that would work. If you really look through the manga the undertaker had ties with him before he died. Plus, Vincent can't become a shingami.

my theory is that Undertaker is NOT vincent phantomhive. my theory is that Undertaker is Vincet's father or maybe Vincent's Grandfather. In some ways Undertaker is related to the Phantomhives either he is Claudia's (Ciel's Grandmother) lover/daughter, i am not sure. Undertaker has served under Vincent as well much like how he is an info. broker for Ciel. Undertaker has always been concerned for Ciel's safety, giving him advises (vague as it may be) and saying to sebastian that his main priority should always be the little lord. Undertaker treasures that necklace of his that has Claudia Phantomhive's hair, date of birth and death engraved in it. Another thing at the Emerald witch arc, Ciel sensed the presence of those two shinigamis first and one of them commented, "He spotted us. Isnt it because he has a foot in the grave bec. of his contract with the demon or maybe it's bec of his bloodline?" (Source: mangafox.me/manga/kuroshitsuji/v22/c103/5.html) . So I'm thinking that maybe, the Phantomhives have some Shinigami's blood through Undertaker? That's my theory.

That wasn't any 100% confirmation from the author but she did say something along "not wanting to reveal the reason behind their resemblance just yet"

Ch-yeol whisper you do have a point and since "Sebastian" is the name of ciels dead dog and ciel chooses Sebastian form that pleases him it would make sense that people would think that Sebastian is Vincent phantomhives (demon) reincarnation, but I guess we might find out in the next movie/series:)

No, our Ciel wasn't neglected or wasn't seen as just a spare. I don't know why people think being a spare is a terrible thing when it's just part of their culture. Francis was a spare and Elizabeth is a Spare so what's the problem? The reason Our Ciel stayed inside was because he was ill and they were worried about him, They coddled him a lot. They loved both boys very much. Vincent even wanted Our Ciel to inherit everything instead of his first son but his little sister was giving him shit for his decision then he made a sarcastic joke to shut her up. I love Francis but she is a hard head sometimes.

Only seeing the real Ciel's with his parents doesn't mean our Ciel was neglected by his parents. Our Ciel treating his big brother's memories as his own is him putting on an act that he's his big brother not because our Ciel had no happy memories of his family of his own.

He was Vincent's informant before he was Ciel's. The manga goes into a lot more detail of Undertaker's role in the series (it's way different from the anime).

He's trying to watch over Ciel too but it's difficult because of Sebastian's presence. But he was in Vincent's inner circle and one of the lockets he carries belonged to Claudia Phantomhive (the grandmother).

He looks a bit different in the manga. In Book of Circus the animators used the same design for Vincent and Sebastian. But the series' creator has said that he and Sebastian look similar because Sebastian took a form that Ciel would trust (so, his father's).

The unifin and cat Sisters Well, he was the leader of the Aristocracy of Evil. Whether this meant that he simply dealt with evil beings or if he himself was evil, I'm not sure...but it is a possibility that he was. Vincent Phantomhive is quite the enigma...I do hope that Kuroshitsuji further divulges into his character.
