Possible one of the most amazing motorcycles ever produced. The Vincent Rapide is simply one of the most amazing machines I've ever seen. Wahoo! Baxtercycle.com
The two components you were pointing out under the seat were known as "friction devices" that are adjustable. Basically, as the rear wheel moves up and down in an arc at the swing arm pivot the friction device allows the seat to move with it but only a fraction of the amount the wheel moves. Clever piece of engineering! The rear STOP light is a work of art!
Thank you for that information on this absolutely amazing motorcycle. It's been a real privilege to finally be able to look one over, to touch one! If we're lucky we should be able to do a riding video before it sells. Wahoo! PS Love that Stop Light.
What a gorgeous bike. 45 HP. 1 sold 8/22/2023. $63,500.00. 21 front 19 rear Triangulated swingarm mounted with twin horizontal springs and a single Koni damper. Sweet. Fuzzy would be the ideal individual to do a video on this bike. Head turner for sure. ☔ raining here.
I ride many classics from Triumph/BSA triples,Laverda Jota ,Triton,Honda CBX6 love the sound of the triples but love riding the 1948 HRD vincent with the Brampton forks got to sit on the rear of seat 60-70 mph no probs, probably the best looking bike in my opinion looking at the timing side of bike.
I think this was the bike model my dad had. It fits with the years and what little he told me about it but it is the only thing I ever heard him regret selling. The ease of maintenance fits well with him as well, he was an aircraft motor engineer and most pedantic with his vehicles - I still have a brush he used to clean his bike with from dust and one or two self modified tools I'm guessing was used on it as well.
I need to spend some time looking at one of these in person. Everything about it is stunningly beautiful, but I don’t get the seat. Is the back of it mounted to the swing arm? That doesn’t make sense to me.
I've spent hours looking at this bike, it's amazing. Yes, the seat is hooked to the swing arm. Not sure how that works but hope to ride the bike soon (HOPE) and will see how that works. Amazing motorcycle. Wahoo!
Russell Wright a New Zealander brought a Vincent Black Lighting ⚡ back from UK in 1955-56 & set a land speed record South of Christchurch New Zealand 🇳🇿 on drying public road of 185mph in front of Guiness World 🌎 Record officials. Record still stands for that class & after 3runs each over 180mph HIS mate bolted a sidecar on & set sidecar record. There is some grainy footage of Record attempt if you type in Russell Wright Vincent speed record NZ 🇳🇿. Russell Wright owned a Construction business in UK & brought the Vincent Black Lightning ⚡ which cost a small fortune & shipped it back to NZ 🇳🇿.There have been other attempts in Australia 170mph & in US but at altitude on salt flats & tuning of carbs affected record attempt so NZ 🇳🇿 is fastest official Guiness record measured with the high tech of the day 185mph WOW😲🤯. Pity the footage isn't better but you can hear & see bike setting record & bike sounds like a 2stroke.When Russell Wright died HIS ashes were spread on the road where HE set record decades earlier.Look into it Fuzzy.Quadruple WAHOO.
Hey, thank you for this info. I've just watched 3 videos on this amazing story. Amazing work they did to the motorcycle with its fairing and more. Crazy they did this on the beach. I've got to get myself to NZ. Wahoo!
