So after watching The Black Crystal on youtube, I passed on the AGFA relese and I decided to stop being a completionist. (I grabbed Bat Pussy because I wanted it, not because I felt pressure to own it.) Attack of the Beast Creatures, Jan 23 AGFA release.... I watched it on youtube, decided to pass on it, and now that the slip is sold out I have FOMO. But this is a good for me. I'm letting the FOMO rush over me and allowing myself to feel the feeling and accept that it is fine and reminding myself that I made a conscious decision not to buy it in the first place. This probably belongs under a collecting 2.0 but oh well!!! Thanks for a place to talk film and physical media!!!! You rock!!!
Hey Graham I know 2022 was considered to be a bit of a let down for many VS fans & subscribers. The Forgotten Gialli set was a bit weaker than most of the previous sets and Homegrown Horrors had its ups & downs. For me the Tequila Western set was a revelation and I enjoyed both. That was the big surprise. My list is pretty similar to your own unsurprisingly. 10. Dead Heat 9. Drop Dead Fred 8. Sister, Sister 7. Red Sun Rising 6. The Iceman Cometh 5. Miami Connection 4. Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 3. Reform School Girls 2. Freeway No surprise that my fav was: 1. Burning Paradise
I always avoided it in the rental shops because of its horrid cover (reversible on the VS release). I judged a film by its awful cover. Also, there were always like 400 copies in the store. When people started texting me and telling me how good it was, I was shocked! I bought it, and it too is my favourite of last year from VS.
Funny you gave the 11 spot to Don't Open Till Christmas as I really was underwhelmed with that one but I adore the packaging and artwork so much, I have to keep it. I haven't managed to watch the majority if the releases I picked up last year, but I've seen Dead Heat before so that's a shoe-in. Righting Wrongs was a long time hold-off for me, and I loved the VS package more than 88's so happy I got that. I got the 88 version of Iceman Cometh though. Miami Connection and Road House are phenomenal looking releases even just in the box! I'm not fully sure which of the things I got last year were 2022 releases. From the ones I have and know are 2022 ones, that I think will be my favourites: -Dead Heat -Righting Wrongs -Miami Connection -Road House -Burning Paradise -Forgotten Gialli Vol.4 (mostly for Arabella) Then probably something surprising, I still need to pickup some recommendations like Freeway and Cloak and Dagger.

Hey Graham, as you know I don't purchase a lot of VS titles so I couldn't do a top 10, however your review of Freeway intrigued me and as I already mentioned to you I picked the movie up. It's a really great movie and I even enjoyed the movies opening credits which is a first for me. If anyone reads this comment Freeway is a banger of a brilliant movie that you will watch many times. For that reason you owe it to yourself to pick it up.
Loved Drop Dead Fred as a kid, but Miami Connection was the stellar package. Iceman Cometh (which I got from 88) was a huge letdown for me though - humour was too broad, action was average, didn't deliver on the concept. Thanks for the cool list. 😎
Asian films can be so hit and miss. Especially the humour. Most of the time it’s like nails on a chalk board, I didn’t mind Iceman’s humour. It was the rare exception.

Great list. Never listen to RU-vid influencers Graham. Their opinions are often outdated and narrow minded, for instance if there's not enough nudity/violence they don't like it. I also never listen to reviews that just rant about what they dislike. Especially by RU-vid influencers who make their own rip off films such as The Exorcists 😂. #thosewhoknow#
