1. Hopefully no one has debris in their hair 2. Not sure what I was doing in the beginning of the video. I think I was trying to be funny but I just look mad 3. Always mentally prepare yourself before taste testing kombucha vinegar. That stuff is STRONG.

@@teekotrain6845 1/4 cup into 2 cups of water. It's not something you want to use every day. Once a week maybe, depending on your hair type.

😂😂Omg, i love you! I like your style & humor. I just had my first batch of "vinegar" from kombucha brewing attempt. Genuis! I thought i had ruined it & was going to give up. I've been making some DELICIOUS blueberry & orange kombucha. I'm addicted to the stuff & had to start making it. I'm learning. Ty for sharing!

If it's already too sour, the second fermentation will only make it worse. If anything - use less sugar than you usually use and leave it for shorter, so the sugar doesn't get fermented and you get more sugar in there.

I like to add fruit @ day 5, & let go until desired fizziness. Delicious. I think mine is fermenting faster. They're in a corner w no air flow. Idk. But i was dreading waiting 14 days to drink them. 😂😂😂😂

@@WskyGrl73 lately I've changed my process and I let the first fermentation go for 2 weeks, but I add half the sugar I used to (half a cup for a gallon). I like the taste better - it's more sour, but not crazy sour. It lets all the sugar ferment. Perfect for beginning second fermentation. It gives me more control over the final flavour.

if you boil it... strain it... and combine it with baking soda & lemon salt... you can make it even more acidic and use it to clean like I do inside my coffee filter, and also works for water containers (once they are empty) or pumps, and also expresso machines or any kind of device with pipes that needs unclogging. Maybe washing machine can remove that calkar thingy. And don't throw it away after you use it... because you can strain the liquid again trough a paper filter or two layers of paper filters, and store it in a glass bottle for other times in the future you might need it. Don't put it in plastic bottles, it will melt/erode them and micro particulates will be in your drinking bottle / source.

Sounds interesting. Why add baking soda though? It acts as a buffer and makes the solution less acidic.

Haha! I make lots of vinegar because I miss the "sweet spot" where I love it. I've also added juice and a teaspoon of sugar to my second ferment and it turned out great!

I add a tsp-TBSP of honey to my 2nd ferment w blueberries, oranges, & strawberries. It's SO good, and the fruit is great to eat after. 😋 I don't strain it.

You are so creative, Karen. So, after watching your beet kvass videos I decided this weekend I"m making beet kvass with red beets, apples and I'm going to try cinnamon stick. Thanks for the inspiration. I think it's going to be a gamble with the cinnamon stick but it's worth a try.

Liz,I put this weeks brew bottle on the refrigerator and it finished 3 days early. I just bottled 6 bottles of apple cinnamon kambucha. Yahhh!

Hey girl. Thanks for watching. So, I made a fermented drink recently, not kombucha. It's called Tepeche that's made with pineapple. While making it I kept thinking of you. Do you like pineapple?

Hello Liz. Love your videos.... 🌺 Now I have a question? My kombucha has gone sour... So I can use for starter tea. But what about my scoby? It's my first scoby what do I do with her?

Hello Alida. So glad the videos are helpful. Yes, you can still use the sour kombucha for starter tea. If it's an extra SCOBY, me personally, I'd make another or extra batch of kombucha. Of you're not ready to do that yet you can let it sit in the sour kombucha until you are ready. I hope that helps.

I think that would be pretty painful. Enema's are usually saline based. It would probably be safer to drink it.

Or should I ask is it ok bc my ginger doesn't taste like much haha so i added white tea and stevia so good . But its my first go at this .

Buying some pomegranate and pineapple juice for sure . Can you possibly do you a video on yeast I keep thinking about it but I'm clueless 🤷‍♀️ I rly njoy your channel ty for all that you do.

@@jessicajacobs9803 I am so glad you are enjoying the channel and find it helpful. What specific questions about yeast do you have? Imo homebrew taste a lot better. I really don't even like buying kombucha. Feels like a waste of money. Taste bland and watered down.

Yes, it would have the mother. Some people don't use the SCOBY (mother) to make kombucha. Even if the SCOBY isn't used eventually one will form and be there while the kombucha is fermenting into vinegar. Hope that makes sense 😉

My kombucha smell weird after using my 1 month scoby hotel to my 2nd batch. I dont know what causes it but the taste is still the same like other kombucha. Is it because of the vinegar substance going into the batch or something else? I dont know how to describe the smell, but it smell acidic yet, its heavy and bit of plastic smell. I didnt use any plastic materials but its weird to smell that smell..

Hello and I'm sorry to hear about your brewing problems. I will do my best to help. Typically there is 1 culprit for a smelly batch of kombucha and that is too much yeast. Most people describe it as an egg or fart smell. Like a sulfur smell. The sulfur smell is due to excessive yeast. This doesn't seem to be the case because vinegar kombucha doesn't have much yeast remaining. It could be due to the starter tea being all vinegar. At that point in the process most of the bacteria and yeast have been consumed so what is left is pretty much starving. I've never had a problem using vinegar kombucha for a new batch of kombucha but my mom has. I would suggest taking some of that smelly kombucha and using it for starter tea for a new batch. The next batch should balance out the culture. That is what I would do. Also, I'll make a video on this since I have a large batch of vinegar kombucha on my counter. To add, it may help in the future if every couple of months (2-4) you add some fresh sweetened tea to your SCOBY hotel to keep it fresh
