My favorite part of Castlevania being added to a game is all the music and remixes we get. Music is a large part of why another series could never take its place, it’s some of the best music in video games.
@@rudeboyspodcast Honestly even though I was super hyped when they were announced and Simon and Richter definitely deserve their spot, I frequently forget Castlevania is even in Smash Ultimate, lmao. I guess that's unavoidable when your roster hits 70+ characters.
I was not expecting to see Shanoa here, but seeing as Order of Ecclesia was a favorite (alongside the other DS titles) , was super happy to see her here
Actually bought Dead Cells yesterday just for the Castlevania upgrade. It's amazing so far. "Beat" the game first try with an amazingly lucky build (Hammer + Freeeze) but didn't get further than clock tower in any other run afterwards.
The difficulty spike from 0 boss cells to 1+ is huge, to the point that people meme about it being a tutorial. If you beat it first try you definitely had an above-average handle on dodging, though.
@@frds_skce 1BC to 2BC took me 41 runs, and I've only begun to scratch the boss on 2BC. It ramps hard, but I still have tons to unlock. I think I prefer Hades' granular difficulty increases with the pact of punishment but Dead Cells just feels so good to play
@@frds_skce Thanks, though my build played a big role in that I'm afraid. Frost spell + frost grenade and a legendary VII+ hammer that crits on frozen enemies by the end. Even the last boss's HP melted with every hit. My other 3 runs all ended at the clock tower boss. Turns out that boss is quite tough if you actually have to fight him.
@@Wrathful_Scythe Damn, you definitely got lucky. I was too caught up with Twin Daggers build + Frost/Bow (could be Quick or Multiple) for a long time that it was quite hard cuz you need proper positioning with these weapons. Otherwise yeah, i still love this game for its gameplay
fun fact: I was a tester for this dlc for a single day. i didnt see the email until a day before this released. im so sorry john dead cells. I love you.
57:45 - Inflammable means flammable? What a country! * "Flammable and inflammable do not mean the same thing. If something is flammable it means it can be set fire to, such as a piece of wood. However, inflammable means that a substance is capabble of bursting into flames without the need for any ignition." 1:19:42 - ELITE 1:24:40 1:35:38 1:37:16 1:42:30
Symphony of the Night wins top spot for "Best PS1 game" for me, and the competition is stiff. If you finish it and want more I consider Aria of Sorrow just as good if not better in some respects.
This got me back into Dead Cells again (last time I played was fully vanilla, now with all the DLC), and I'm remembering how damn fun this game is. So satisfying.
As a Castlevania enjoyer it feels so surreal that this DLC exist and I’m on the fance cuz I just don’t enjoy roguelike mechanics anymore but I did play Dead Cells a lot, if the gameplay is close enough to Castlevania I’d definitely get it and having the music in it is amazing, it feels like a mod that replaces the music except it’s official
@@rr53213rr I understand why you dislike roguelikes so much but dead cells is pretty forgiving about starting builds and has a custom mode where you can pretty much only use the items you find fun. (If that helps at all)
@@rr53213rr yeah, i understand that. Roguelikes done well are like some of my favorite games ever if not my single favorite like isaac but roguelikes done bad are some of the worst. Shovel Knight dig for example feels more like a mobile cash grab than a real game, and Exit The Gungeon is a horrible sequel to one of my favorite games.
I was waiting this DLC to release, so i can play Dead Cells a little bit more (got like 80 hours in before), but man i didn't expect to get hooked by the game again. It's such a great game, with perfect collabs and content inside it. I bet the devs are really proud of it.
ayyyy nice. I am ngl hyped to play this. I was picking on the game again a bit,at the end of last year, and ngl could find some fun in it. So i’m excited to try this out when possible.
(going off the random salad dressing discussion lol) Am I the only weirdo who doesn't like any kind of salad dressing at all and prefers salad dry? (to be fair, I am autistic and with the sensory differences that often come with that, I guess salad dressing is just one of those things that my senses perceive as "too strong". Although strangely enough I love Thai, Indian, Korean, and other highly flavorful cuisines)
I bought Dead Cells on the Switch, and I got into big after learning how to play it properly, now I've made it to 4 Boss Stem Cells (still working my way to 5). I love this game, and the Castlevania DLC is just amazing.
nah. the only reason silent hill 2 is getting a remake is to advertise a new movie. also the people working on the remake also made layers of fear, soooo
Yeah, I have no faith in SH2 Remake. The trailer told me all I need to know, they're going to butcher that story. If they got the hint they would've just made an actual new Castlevania game and Silent Hills.
@@DJNeon-C1990 You realize how long ago Layers of Fear came out at this point? It's not a valid way to discredit them. I don't have high hopes myself but clinging to an at worst mediocre title from so long ago...
Considering the state konamis been in for almost an entire decade id say left to rot is fair for almost all of their franchises. Silent hill being semi-rebooted helps a bit but i also dont have high hopes for much but the remake and even then the trailer was a bit iffy.
@@HamazuraGOD Yes, would you say games like Portal 2, which has a defined ending are left to rot? I feel like Half Life is a better case of "left to rot" when it had a to be continued basically on it. While people like castlevania each one is it's own thing and can just be finished. Though if you consider any game series that doesn't have more games left to rot then that's fair.
Off-topic but will Vin¢ try Street Fighter 6? I really want to see it since it's the first fighting game ever to feature such a robust single player experience.
Yeah you're better off slapping the Symphony sountrack on top of it and it would feel 10 times better... and as a matter of fact, they did that and its 10 times better.
I'm no musician but I think the biggest problem is that some of them just feel like they changed the time signature/note timings with no real thought. That or they're MIDI-tastic.
O thank goodness I'm not the only one who hasn't seen The Godfather 😭 And, being that I'm a full decade younger than Vinny, I also have a pretty good excuse :p
@@diegomedina9637 well, they do have a lot to answer for as they don’t respect the games legacy and fanbase. It’s not just Castlevania, it’s Metal Gear Solid and Silent Hill too. If they make the games great again then they have a chance to redeem themselves and take back their place as a respected company but if they continue to ignore the games fanbases then obviously they still gonna suck.
@@Valkeyria The thing is... The only franchise that made money for a good while was MGS and Kojima was a huge spender of money. Why you think previous MGS games were filled with literal adds (3 is a literall Cup Noodle ad and 4 has not only the Ipod as an item but every single character in that game is using a Sony Ericson phone) Then we get to V. Kojima is literally spending not only alot of money on Metal Gear with no advreticements but also on a Silent Hill project the company had not aproved of while MGS V was still bleeding out cash. That's why Ground Zeroes was released earlier than the Phantom Pain, if it wasn't for that MGS V would have not existed at all.
This DLC isn't good enough. "Maria's Cat" has a name. It's "Byakko". The music loops are very poor, too. If they can't get simple things like that right, then I have no hope for this DLC.
Oh, trust me, if I really sat down played this DLC, myself, I could probably tear it apart. I just wanted to put some basic thoughts and opinions out based on what I observed here. For all I know, they might fix the music or even the weapon name. _For god sakes, _*_fix the weapon name,_*_ Motion Twin. You called the whip "Vampire Killer". Call the damn cat _*_"Byakko"._*
In its original debut it was literally just referred to as "cat." It's not them missing a detail, it's them using the option that more people are likely to recognize instead of appealing to just wiki nerds. This is the single most "🤓" criticism I've seen in a good bit, and it's about something incredibly pointless to boot
