For some reason, whenever I hit play on chatreplay it plays the audio but stays on the opaque screen with the ad window and play button. It happens on both my iPad and my Samsung phone.
I don't know precisely how long I've been watching but I remember vividly and clearly the very first time I ever opened up his stream, the literal very first thing he said immediately after it loaded was "ok chat, you don't _have_ to call me vinny-kun. it's okay, you don't have to do that." imagine that shit after only watching his edited RU-vid videos up to that point. totally set the tone for what I was getting myself into.
There’s something strangely captivating about watching Vinny stumble through these fever dream collectathon hellscapes. Happy tenth birthday to egglikes!
This is really a remarkable period of Vinesauce. Regular sunday streams are back, corruptions made a top-quality comeback, new Mayro Kratt, new egglikes.... I guess Joel's visit did some good. EDIT: not to mention that the remaining inner circle (Vinny, Joel, Limes, Rev and now Mike) appear to be doing a lot more stuff together than in the last few years combined.
You put that very well. Im really glad Vinny recovered mentally from the last few years and it shows on the quality of the latest uploads. Now if he brings back Shovelware showcase we went full circle
48:08 I love that he starts to walk away, but hears how smooth that "everything's on sale during Christmas in July" was and immediately turned around to watch the rest
I'm happy egglikes are back and being fully appreciated. Equally happy that some of my friends made these games and they're getting the love they deserve! Also hope this means Fantastic 2.0 drops sometime soon.
It is actually in development, would you believe. The dev of the first game has updated their tumblr blog about it and even has a discord server about The Fantastic Game 2.
I'm a little embarrassed about how excited I was to see this pop up. Another fun fact, I flip-flopped back and forth between spelling it "eggsited" five times.
I would have been eggstatic had you spelled it that way. I think not doing it was an eggregious error that's going to be eggspensive for you in the social eggconomy. You really got egg on your face this time. What a miserable eggsistence. Gonna have to releggate this one to the bad post pile with the other bad eggs.
i watched the fantastic game video and tomodachi life video at my grandpas funeral in 2014 because im that in touch with reality. aka not at all i was also 12
" I have no patience for that right now, I'm probably going to have to go back there" - Vinny talking about a bonus level that warned him that if he leaves he can't come back.
I'm really glad everyone enjoyed what I'd put together. I'm friends with the other devs in this collection as well, so it was a lot of fun seeing their games be shown too. It's extremely surreal to see something I put together be played on a stream I've been following for ages now. Ever since those OG Mario 64 corruptions on the main channel. Thanks for everything guys
You've made an amazing game , LSD dream emulator was one of my favorite game experiences and to see it live on through other creators own touches is such a magical thing. I applaud you
1:58:58 Seeing Vinny completely ignore the Kairo recreation and instead hiperfixate on the Bernband reference room feels like the kind of betrayal you feel when a cat is approaching you and then avoids you as soon as you want to pet it
From playthroughs I've seen, most of them didn't notice there were stairs at the back there, and instead went straight for the lantern. I should have rearranged the start of that scene so it's a bit more clear, but with some things you only learn that you should have changed after the game is already out and done lol, oops.
Fuck Yes! Even 10 years later there is still so much to do, so much to see, so much to do, so much to see, so much to do, so much to see, so much to do, so much to see
I wouldn't be surprised if he knows of it but only by a different name. it took me an embarrassing amount of time to figure out that purple drank and lean were the same thing 😔
It's a weirdly good way to express weird memes and jokes. Like where would you post some of these? Just put Shrek Chansey in some group chat and be like XD? while with an egglike you can just put him in the world and it just makes sense
Thank you again, Mr Fullsauce and Vinny, gotta say the thumbnail looks great! Everyone is there! Glad all of the eggs were enjoyed. More soon, love Scrib
Watching this I can't help but remember showing my cousin the fantabulous game in 7th grade on Christmas, only for every family member present to scold me when Vinny yelled WHAT THE FUCK at the sign monster. Can't believe it's been so long.
Egglikes look so easy yet so hard to make and develop. You gotta take a bunch of random crap and perfectly stitch it all together in a coherent and enjoyable way. Dimensional wanderers looks particularly great. Love the lil cat people. ALSO 10 YEARS WHAT THE FUCK love y’all and binyot 💚 🍄
I cannot believe it's been ten years. Still as shamrock-free as the time I first laid eyes upon their sausages and sign lords. I'd say that it would be fun to see these experienced by the rest of the masses, but they feel... weirdly pure this way, as niche gems containing Eldritch chaos and eggs for the few who dare.
15:35 The music there (and in a few other places) is from Osada by Amanita Design. Fantasticaneer used some music from that as well, so it's kind of a callback to The Fantastic Game.
I should add that Dimensional Wanderer had an astonishing amount of Kairo and Antichamber references/tributes I was not expecting to see, even down to adding puzzle and platforming gimmicks. What a cool f'n experience. I wonder if the light shafts room referenced There Was The Moon or NaissanceE, as both games had similar moody lighting
Yeah dude Kairo's awesome. I'm surprised we've still not seen much else like it, and the same goes for Antichamber too. There Was the Moon is a great Kairo-like though, but I've not played it myself yet. There's no references to that or NaissanceE, I just wanted some cool lighting in certain areas. (There's lightshafts in the scene with all the plants as well, for example. 1:53:21) But they are both great games. Glad you enjoyed it so much, thank you!
@@ScarfKat Hey! No problem, thanks for creating it! I think you might enjoy either of the aforementioned games since they're both very moody type of ambient/exploration games. Manifold Garden also deserves mentioning. I hope these types of experiences become a growing niche
1:05:45 Moment of absolute defeat and sadness as Vinny remembers the Harambe event that would dramatically and permanently affect our world wide web and lives.
Has it really been 10 years???? One of my first videos of Vinny's was either Fantabulous Game or Fantastic Game, and god how far we've all come. Good shit. Good shit indeed, thank you for the content through all these years, Binyot
Seeing how Vinny has somehow absorbed all of Undertale and Deltarune through shitpost osmosis I'm starting to wonder if he'd pick up on any Homestuck stuff that got thrown at him
SO MUCH TO SEE SO MUCH TO DO! SO MUCH TO SEE SO MUCH TO DO!SO MUCH TO SEE SO MUCH TO DO!SO MUCH TO SEE SO MUCH TO DO!SO MUCH TO SEE SO MUCH TO DO!SO MUCH TO SEE SO MUCH TO DO!
That mine/cave music is a remix of one that was used in one of the original egglikes! I'm sure it has another origin but I recognized the melody immediately.
Bennet Foddy goes into the philosophy of "B-games and B-media" in the full monologue of Getting Over It, and i highly encourage anyone who likes Egg-likes to check it out. It's these rough assemblages of discarded thoughts and objects cast into the internet, all used to make something new. It's like making art out of trash. To me, Egg-likes are essentially little collectathon walking sims made of that same B-media i mentioned.
I heard that same philosophy dump from watching countless people play "Getting Over It" and while I can respect the effort that goes into making those kinds of games, the so-called "Egg-likes" are fundamentally not in the same class as "B-Games" and here's why: The examples Foddy uses are games that conciously make an effort to be frustrating for their players to play; from what I understand the enjoyment factor of those games are wholly at the expense of the player; creating a hostile playstyle. The Egg-likes Vinny plays can give the impression of a badly-constructed area with strange and bizarre like "Getting Over It" but they never lean into player sadism. A few annoyances here in the name of good fun, but ultimately the egg-like has the consistent goal of (a) exploration of an unfamiliar world and (b) tempting the player with roadside attractions and silly interactions so they spend just a little more time to see the next attraction, only to pique their curiousity with yet another locked door until they've played all the way through to the end. tldr; Getting Over It is about seeing who is masochistic enough to finish a linear game; Egglikes are about seeing who is engaged enough to explore an open-ended game.
@@ImpossibleCakePro youre conflating b-games and rage games. Foddy uses Sexy Hiking as an example of a b-game that ALSO matches getting over it as a rage game, but b-games are more of an umbrella term. Egg-likes are collectathon b-games, Sexy Hiking and Getting Over It are more linear "mountain"/obstacle course b-games
@@MelodicaDude I'll concede the distinction that rage games are their own subclass, but your definition of a "b-game" is vague. Is Cruelty Squad a b-game? Is hypnospace outlaw a b-game? Sonic Dreams collection, Bubsy 3D II, toilet in Wonderland, sit-and-spin have all earned* own distinction as shitpost meme games but by the definition provided, they're covered by the blanket "b-game" term which I think would be a misleading way of describing any of them.
@@ImpossibleCakePro It's not vague, but it is an umbrella term. A b-game largely consists of assets and ideas taken from other sources and "recycled" into something new. In Getting Over It, thats represented with a literal mountain of assets cobbled together. In egg-likes, you often see things like audio clips from old viral videos, memes used as wall textures, random 3D models pulled from free asset websites, etc. A b-game doesnt have to ENTIRELY be borrowed assets, but there's generally a large use of them. It's like they never bothered to replace the placeholder assets or develop it further. The "difficulty" associated with some b-games isnt intentional difficulty. It's more of a side effect of the game's development being looser and not fully developed, left as a prototype.
That tune at 01:25:00 is an old folk tune. It's associated with the Scottish ballad Little Musgrave and Lady Barnard and also used for the Appalachian folk song Shady Grove. Also the two song sheets on the hedge maze wall a few minutes earlier. The left one is Bavarian dialect and translates to "Good night! I'm quite the idiot" and the right one is intentionally misspelled German for "lick my a**".
i love how i started watching this video last night, went to bed and had the absolute weirdest dreams that had very big egglike/lsd vibes. usually games (or any kind of media) dont influence me that much, but for some reason egglikes made it into my dream and had me fantasizing fever dream material?? granted, my dreams are usually very egglike in general, but not with such a heavy take on visuals or settings-
I'd call the third game a "Soft Boiled Like" Still a weird memey walking simulator with inconsistent art style and arbitrary goals, but there's a story and mechanics to keep you invested in it as if it was a normal game.
It was originally made for the LSD Jam in 2020, but got included here. That's why it doesn't have much for memes besides a few little things. Still really honored to have been a part of this though, it was really surreal
I love how Vinny sees the Green Eggs and Ham cover as Watto's schnozz/schlong. A poisoned mind, but damn if all this didn't celebrate everything that made it that way.
Simmilar to the 'scoop the mids' bit, first time I heard someone talk about 'port forwarding' I thought he was making it up to fool with someone. I would jokingly suggest 'haha yeah just forward your ports dude.' to a lot of problems until like a year after a guy went 'Oh yeah that worked, thanks!' and I found out that was a real thing you could do.
Hearing Crash Twinsanity music followed immediately by the Outer wilds universe explodes ending music, and then at the end i hear R2 screaming before fading back into twinsanity is perhaps a memory i won't soon forget. Or maybe i will, i don't know, i have a lot of things going on in my life right now.
Why is this kind of stuff so entertaining and relaxing for me? I usually get bored real quick, but these games are just totally amazing, I love it! I wanna play these kind of games too...
