Ving Rhames worked his whole life to get to that moment. He brought his wife and his mother with him to share in his victory. And there he won right in front of his mother, who I'm sure instilled in him the lesson to always do what he thought was right. And there, right in front of her, he did exactly that. Heeding his mama's words to do what he thought was right over his own personal victory and satisfaction. If that doesn't touch you, you need to reassess your life.

@lucy bond - Ms Bond, don't tell me I don't get it. I know what I'm talking about. Obviously you don't. After he expressed his gratitude, he should have left it at that. All he had to do was say the kindest words of gratitude to Jack Lemmon, that would have been more than enough. Calling him up on stage and giving him the award was a little embarrassing to watch. Even Jack himself was a little embarrassed. That was clearly obvious.

I had a friend who got the chance to meet Ving Rhames once and my friend said that Mr. Rhames treated him like he was the only thing in the world that mattered at the particular moment. They only talked for like a couple minutes and when they were done, my friend thanked him for his time and said how he was one of the nicest people he had met and how he didn't need to give him the attention he did and Ving responded that there was no reason to be rude to anyone especially to a fan. That fans spend their hard earned money to buy a ticket to one of his movies and buy the DVD's and the like and they help keep food on his table for him and his family so he should be thanking you for your time. My friend was speechless and told me that until that moment he had no idea he could be a bigger fan of the man than he was at that moment.

Normally looking at the audience you don't see that much going on in the audience that isn't about putting on a good front and looking good for the camera. Mr. Rhames drew more authentic reaction from this audience, and in the end, I think I saw more respect and a little envy that they hadn't ever thought of that. We have his films, his time on media, and some of his wisdom. I miss him, too, but recognize that until that day with our Creator, we have the fact that we can rewatch those wonderful moments until time finishes with us.

Ving Rhames is a great dude. He will be remembered for this moment. I give him credit for honoring the people who came before him.
