Re-watching this I noticed Vingegaard didn't actually slip on gravel. He put his inside foot down on the turn and caught his toe on the pavement. Even the pros can make a rookie mistake.
@dfuher968
@dfuher968 Год назад
Yeah, they were really pushing each other. Jonas rushed the pedalling just a fraction of a second there, and Pog mistimed the turn and made another rookie mistake of trying to turn the wheel while sliding in gravel. Thankfully they both got out of it!
@chrisj5443
@chrisj5443 Год назад
Yes. In this situation, I think not simple rookie-type mistake, but more a demonstration of how close to the edge he and Pog are in competing --- that he's trying to resume pedaling before coming far enough out of that curve.

What a very impressive show of sportsmanship and respect on behalf of Vingegaard today!!! A TRUE champion and gentleman!! For some reason I feel that Pogi would NOT have done what he did today. Something tells me Pogi would have continued descending at speed. I could be wrong but we will never know. I'm old school and believe in the old school ways and you should not attack on a mechanical or a crash BUT part of me also feels like if you crash on a descent on YOUR OWN it is YOUR OWN fault therefore it is OK to continue at speed. I'm honestly a bit torn about this one but I'm just not sure Pogi would have done the same. I feel he would have continued descending at speed.
