The 2nd ending from Vinland Saga is one of my favourite endings in anime, its so beautiful. Also about season 2, even though Mappa is taking over it, as far as I know the same group of animators and the same director from season 1 are on it, so there won't be much of a change in artstyle and animation.

Mappa did take the 2nd season but, the core team is almost the same people. So it should be fine. The trailer from the 2nd season showed they followed the first season art style which follows the original manga

Have you ever noticed Askeladd has a Roman-like armor, just like Gratianus? That was a way Yukimura, the mangaka, let us to understand he is different from the other Danes. To be completely honest, however, that kind of armors was not in use anymore at the time when this story is set up, even in the Roman Empire itself. But it is something the public is familiar with, because of Hollywood movies like the Gladiator, and thus Yukimura used it.

At first I thought that was an interesting bit of characterisation, for him to wear fancy Roman armour & his knowledge of Roman history. But his true lineage made his character so much more interesting.

Canute was second born in a time when Kings murdered their family to prevent others from having a claim on their throne. He was also born sickly and weak. He grew up needing to appear weak, so his family didn't feel threatened by him. As a prince if you were seen as being too weak to ever make a claim to the throne you might be spared since you posed no threat. That's why he's like this. Now Askeladd is trying to undo a life time of Canute's survival training to make Canute into the king that Askeladd wants.

I love how Askeladd is just that parent who brings his menace arsonist son at the BBQ and leaves him with the only other kid and says something like "oh they're the same age they'll get along just fine"

@@VertFirstQuestion That's not what I meant. I meant he wasn't really a villain in the story, just an protagonist who occasionally does "villanous" things. Askellad was THE main character in season 1, thorfinn was just kinda there.

@@ichigokurosaki8470 a common misconception, antagonist doesnt mean "villain" it means a character that is an obstacle to the protagonist... No matter how much Askeladd stole the show, the protagonist was still Thorfinn... But yeah dw i get what you mean, well written antagonists are sadly very rare and Thorfinn was very passive this season so it really does feel like protagonist is Askeladd

Shoutout to Teddy’s patreons that advised her to avoid the intros. 👏🏻 Anime intros are often riddled w/spoilers so avoiding them makes for a better viewing experience/reaction, IMO. I wish more anime reactors would do the same.

The other opening is also fire! Can't really say which one is better, but this one have more "spoilers". I'd say it is fine to watch after ep 18, dunno if someonce thinks different. Also, can't wait for the next episodes, the show turns to be even better after this one.

We don't know if Canute want to be king or not, plus it's highly unlikely since he is the second prince, and in general, the next king is the first prince, in this case prince Harald.

Don’t worry about the studio change, it’s practically entirely the same staff that worked on season 1 still. Anime industry is really weird all the animators jump around from studios and don’t necessarily belong to any individual studio

MAPPA isn't really trying to steal these shows. WIT has been trying to drop AoT since Season 2 but only really did after S3. And it was given to MAPPA. I'm not really sure what the situation was for Vinland Saga but it wouldn't be surprising if WIT dropped it for similar reasons.

Not that Mappa likes to take shows from wit. More of wit doesn't usually finish unoriginal shows. I watched a video where they said they don't want to be named AOT studio, and be known for their original shows. Which is a great idea however that means when they adapt a show you cannot be sure if they are going to give you a second or third season . And the main reason why Mappa took Vinland is because the director of the show moved to mappa and he talked more about this matter in his twitter.

From what I read about s2, even tho MAPPA is the new studio, the staff is the same from s1. Not sure tho, maybe someone can clarify this, but judging from the trailer the style its pretty much the same.
