I believe that was my mom dancing the Tahitian dance at the end of the video. Victorine Tepiu Richmond, one of the first immigrants to come to Anaheim from the islands of Tahiti with my father, Max Richmond. So beautiful to see this footage of her doing what she loved, it’s been 11 years since she passed, and my father passed in 2006. Such fond memories of them and I’m happy to see she lives on in this video. Thank you so much for sharing ❤❤

Remember the neon cactus. The store in the front. Monorail cafe. The remote control cars. The awesome waterfall you could walk behind. When the wife and I first met we drove down from Portland and camped at disneys vacationland campground in the back in a tent! Crazy! We had full access to the Disneyland hotel pools. There used to be a beach with pools in the back. We would walk there from the campground. Boy has the new hotel lost all its charm. There was so much to do and see before. Now there’s literally nothing. Just a tiki bar. And that’s it!!

@@kirkwilson5900 It was actually a holding office, I believe it was park side ( I didn't work in the parks) Old Admin building. That's the only "jail" I knew of. Until DTD was built and APD had a substation located backstage, HOB load in Gate4. I believe they also had a holding office. These hold areas were used to keep unruly kids/guests until either their parents picked them up or they were transported to jail. Most cases were for theft.

Fantasic footage, Don. Just subscribed. Thanks for sharing. Seeing this makes me so sad of the current state of the DLH. You used to have such a wide array of activities, restaurants, and other things to do at prices that weren't as bloated as today's. Can't believe it's $600-800 a night and they're still cutting amenities like restaurants and such. Thankfully we've got our memories and videos like this.

Great memories! The first time I went to Disneyland was as a kid. I was in 5th grade and my family just moved back to the States. That first time on Main Street, that first ride on Pirates of the Caribbean, that first stay at the Disneyland Hotel…all magic. I remember my mom thought the Juliette balcony in our wasn’t safe for kids. The monorail ride from the hotel to the park was a memory I treasure. (Yes, we had paper tickets in a booklet!) Now, of course, it’s a one-bedroom DVC villa at the Grand Californian. 👍

This is great, especially hosted by Bonita herself. The Wrathers really trailblazed the model of what modern theme park resort hotels ( and even some non-theme park ones ) do today. We never stayed there, but as a kid my family always made point to stop into the hotel if our travels took us through Anaheim. It was like a free theme park on it's own. The 70's and 80's were definitely the heyday but the 90's will be the version I remember the most; the jungle cruise remote control boats, the underwater arcade, Sgt. Preston's had just turned into the Neon Cactus, and the waterfall cavers were still free for people to walk at night, just before the lawsuit that ruined it for everyone. Watching this I could have sworn that was Mr. Bean making a cameo at 5:12 but I guess not.

Right? The Disneyland Hotel had so much to offer. The Dancind Waters show, the waterfall area, the "boat" marina, so many shops, restaurants and the Monorail Cafe. We loved just visiting.

The music is Outdoor Life #4 followed by Outdoor Life #1. Both are from the Capitol Records Media Music and Hi-Q lines. The latter was in the Autopia grandstand queue at Disneyland and the WEDway PeopleMover at WDW. Both were in the Superstar Limo queue at DCA. They are from Media Music Release No. 7 MEGS-8 or Hi-Q reel L-163/164

Who dresses up in a suit and tie to sail a paddle boat? (5:10). That made me laugh. Anyway, I'm a Southern California resident. I never go down to that area unless friends from out of town insist to go there. They now milk your bank account dry for everything. Who can I write to put the place back the way it was? :/

You know it's fascinating that except for the name, no reference whatsoever is made to Disneyland; how the cafe is perfect for breakfast before heading off to the park, or the monorail station, or for that matter the monorail bar. Maybe it was in another segment as part of the hotel channel? Or maybe it was deliberate.
