@@MrFisherbike Well, I don't have a physical loupe, but I have a digital equivalent. I use an app on my phone that does a great job at looking very closely at cards.

Thank you Lisa! It's hard to say no to a Mathewson. Especially a silk printing that seems to be rare to find.

The T206 is a great way to step into it. Also, the Goudey's are great too. A lot of options!

@@SammyThunder I agree. The first prewar I picked up was a ‘33 Goudey Tony Lazzeri in a really nice-looking SGC 1.5. Pinhole tanked the grade. It was fine with me because it doesn’t detract from the overall eye appeal. Everything else about it is upper mid-grade quality. I paid around $150, which isn’t bad for a HOF/key member of “Murderer’s Row”. I only have one other prewar in my collection, a 1940 Playball Carl Hubbell that I graded with SGC myself. I thought it was going to come back as a 2, and it turned out to be a 4.5, so I was pleasantly surprised. Then I have a bunch of tobacco era raw boxing cards in terrible condition, some raw French Bulldog-themed cigarette cards, which I also collect, and a Will’s cigarettes French Zouave card from 1895 that I’m going to send to SGC soon enough.

@@mipierno Definitely sounds like you have a nice eclectic mix of pre war! The non-sports pre war cards are really cool too. I've seen a couple from other collectors
