WOW, all of those knives are definitely “drool worthy”! Your father has fantastic taste. To me, there is NOTHING better than awesome Sambar Stag knife handles, and those that you have are second to none! I have one Case fixed blade knife with stag handles that nice, but it is from 1979. I also have a few Remington knives, but all mine are pocket knives, mostly Boy Scout knives. Thank your father for allowing you to share his gems with us.

I'm a big Case fan. Thanks for sharing, they're all beautiful. Your dad must take a pocket full of cash when he goes to the flea market. It really pays off when you find something like these.

Lol. Not sure if it’s a pocket full of cash. But it was enough that day. Thanks for comment.

You got a good Pops👍 amazing. That Remington is scarce. Fixed Blades have always lagged compared to folders-but these old Hunters are starting to achieve the recognition they deserve 🇺🇸

I can tell by looking at the Remington knife that the black plastic for the handles appear to be made from the same plastic that is on my Remington model 11 that was made in the 1940's. The butt plate is the only plastic on the gun. Cool stuff 👌

Exactly what I thought. It screams gun handles.

My father was a naval aviator, and every time he left the carrier deck in the early 60s, he had strapped to his leg a Case XX knife similar to those. He purchased it in 1959 when he finished flight school. I have it today, including the sheath. Knife still has a mirror finish. Never used.

Handle on the Remington is Bakelite, pre plastic. I have that knife along with about ninety or so others from a great uncle who was a lifer in the navy. He sailed the seven seas and collected knives from all over the world. He retired mid sixty's I don't know what rank he was, but he was in charge of the galleys of several ships. I have his cutlery set early German F. DICH Great high carbon knives easy to sharpen and razor sharp. He was an interesting guy. He favored German knives and bought a lot of them, even a couple Hitler youth Knives All of his collection is high quality.

It’s amazing in this day in age with computers and everyone looking up the value of things that someone can find near mint unused valuable knives at a flea market. Your dad must of been right at that table before anyone else because those would be gone the second that seller opened shop.

They never put dots on their fixed blades
@KnifeKrazy.

Thanks for you comment, but you are incorrect. Dots started in 1970. Pre 1970 has no dots.

A Warning! You may want to check if the Plastic on the Remington is Plastic (Pre-Tupperware) or if it's actually Bakelite. The difference is that Pre-Tupperware plastic is actually rather Toxic to humans and other small critters! One of the MANY, not really known now (things they simply do not teach in school anymore) is that Tupper (the Chemist that invented Tupperware did so BECAUSE of the known toxicity! Plastics made AFTER the early 1950's (Tupper) typically aren't Toxic to humans! Bakelite was a non toxic Invention to "Simulate" plastic made in Germany (if I remember correctly) in the 30's to the middle 40's. Bakelite once made is non toxic, but the actual manufacturing process can be! Its a Phenolic Like the handle of the Buck 119 Knife. Once made, it's as stable as Micarta or G10.
