I just got Luke’s three volumes of “vintage” presets for my newly obtained OB-6. Even though I could easily program my Prophet-6, his OB-6 samples are so evocative of the classic Oberheim sounds I’ve always wanted I really had no problem investing in his great work. Thanks!

I bought 5 sets, 2 for my OB6 and 3 for my REV2. I also have a Hydrasynth, Blofeld, Nova, and Subsequent 37 if you’re looking for some other synths to program for. I’ve played thru both banks of the OB6 sounds and there is a lot of incredible stuff in there. Keep it up!

Thanks Sunil. Versatility was what i was going for with this soundset so thanks for mentioning that. Volume 1 was all about getting as much vintage Oberhiem flavour as possible, where as volume 2 is an attempt to push the OB-6 out of it's comfort zone to see how wide it's sound pallet can go whilst maintaining that classic/vintage sound. I would have preferred the Beverly Hills Cop patch to split the bass part separately to really give it authenticity but it's still nice. I'm sure Hawk would love your rendition of his Chaka Khan track. He's actually a keyboard player as well as the writer of the lyrics.

octopus34 - Re your question above, I don’t know what synth is on “Ain’t Nobody,” and googling around didn’t turn up much. It came out in ‘83 and the keyboard player, Hawk Wolinski, wrote the tune. Given the times, he probably used some combination of the analog gear of that era ... Moog/Roland/Oberheim/Sequential, etc.. The Yamaha DX7 was new in ‘83 so it’s possible he had access to that too. It’s a great intro and I wish I knew more about it. EDIT: Pretty sure the bass is a Minimoog.

I agree that the bass is most probably a Moog - but not necessarily a Mini. Someone stated in a forum that it was a Source. Whatever, that tune is a keyboard masterpiece! :)

I don't regret selling the OB-8 when I can have something in new in perfect condition like the OB-6 that sounds just as good. Amazing sounds - is the simple saws patch from a song?

Made In Machines I might just do that, now that I’ve got this soundset done I’m going to spend some time writing so I’ll deffo see if I can turn some of the little dittys in my demos into proper songs.

@@lukeneptune3820 now, do you make your own music? This all is dandy and cool but really, show some stuff you created by yourself and which shows how well your OB6 sounds in it. It's relatively quite easy to generate copied sound on any good synth with more or less fidelity to it. But it's entirely different animal to create your own hook based on some "new" original patch you made by yourself. I would be much more interested in seeing you play something of your own. Much more difficult than this. I myself come often across some sounds on my equipment that evoke some of my most favorite sounds and hooks from artists I adore. That alone might be good to see if I can recreate the atmosphere of some piece in its entirety and it can serve as a vantage point in how record my own stuff....but I am not really into copying anyone's sounds. I am not interested in playing somebody else's stuff. Do you have your own compositions that you can share with us? If so, Iwould love to hear them. Good luck to you

Luke Neptune I’ve been saving for an OB6 , and I’ve been using your demos as a guide for what it sounds like, since i work so many hours it’s impossible to get any time to visit the music store. But when I do get time off I have about 2-3 months off so I’ve been keeping my spirits up by listening to your sounds to give me something to look forward to. For sure and by far this is the BEST audio clips of the OB6 on the net . You really honed in on soul of this synth.

It’s pretty obvious that the famous patches are played in a way to reflect the context of the original melody but be enough of a variation that he doesn’t get hit with a copyright claim from YT and not get additional income or have the video taken down.
