1. This is an incredible sounding Conn New Wonder II Tenor saxophone from 1926 with a full professional overhaul already completed on it! Serial number is around 192xxx placing the year of production to 1926 and it has been relacquered many years ago, but the overhaul has been expertly completed by Aaron Bernard and it plays and sounds beautifully. Some neck repairs have been completed in the past by Aaron during the overhaul process. A resolder has been completed on the support brace under the Neck.
2. This is a beautiful sounding 284xxx 1938 Conn 10M Tenor Saxophone Naked Lady Pre War Rolled Tone Holes Re Lacquered Recently Re Padded. The Neck is in good condition as well and has not been pulled down as many of these actually have.

I have both Conn NW II nickel-plated original from 1928 and 10M bare brass from 1948 and prefer the NW II tenor to any other horns, including Selmer Ref.36, etc. Conn has the best tone, less resistance and feels more natural under hands. The keywork and mechanics have their own points and it takes a bit of time to get used to it. For example, the G# mechanism on NW series is very simple compared to modern horns and is not as responsive as is. But after I glued the teflon piece on the friction roller it was a game changer and is now perfectly smooth and responsive. The rolled tone holes are of very high quality given its age and time of manufacturing. Overall, there are no more horns these days that were made to those high quality standards as old Conns and Selmers.

From a player of Conns, I was expecting the 10m to be slightly mellower than the NW. but this 10m just laughed at my opinion and blew me away. Great demo.

Both sound wonderful!! The NW has a human voice quality that I love. The 10M seems a tiny bit brighter and more dialed in. You would be hard pressed to find better sounding horns than Conns. Good players can make them really sing..

Difficult to tell the difference, John. Also, listening to a live recording, over the net, to small speaker(s) or earbuds, makes it difficult to judge what they sound like in person...10M may have a bit more punch...but that also depends on mic placement while you were playing. Both great horns!

Both are great....the 10M has more focus in the sound. Listening to you play the Liebman VI on another video, with what looks to be the same mouthpiece as you used here, it is nimble and quick but the sound is puny compared to these two horns....and the ergonomics of the 10m are preferred over Selmer by many players as well.
