Vintage Enduro Trail Bike Build From The Ground Up - Part 4 (Yamaha Enduro DT175)
Hi all! In this episode of building my 1979 Yamaha Enduro DT175 into a trail bike I tackle mounting my Trail Tech temperature gauge. I think this is the one necessary gauge to have because it ultimately tells you if you bike is about to get too hot and go kaput on ya. I won't be running any other gauge on this bike because I want to keep it very basic. Hope you guys enjoy some simple fabrication work because that's basically all that this video is. I also threw in some footage of me actually designing the dash in Solidworks at my work as well. Let me know what you think of the final product!

That is exactly how I mounted mine after my rebuild. I know it's saved me at least 4 top end rebuilds and actually helped a lot with jetting. Hottest I've hit is 421f when my air screw walked out and it was sucking air. Cruising on the road I usually run around 330-350f, 375 ish if I'm pushing it hard up a hill for a long period of time. You'll love it.

Awesome! Great to hear man. I think it will definitely come in handy and give me some peace of mind

@@kosmoto I always joke that the gauge and a clear oil line leading to the carb make for peace of mine and constant paranoid glances.

@@Jammed_Toast Unfortunately my DT175s have either come with missing oil reservoirs or missing oil pumps so I have not had the pleasure of running oil injection haha. That will be rendered useless anyway when I get the engines ported.

@@kosmoto That's a shame, they work great. The transfer ports on these are pretty heinous. I matched mine to the case, polished the exhaust, got rid off all the casting imperfections and chamfered the port edges. Works great. Mine also had some pretty big blockages on the Reed cage plastics.

What handle bars are they?

I couldn't tell ya, they came off another enduro I used to have. They're just temporary, I might go fatbar on this bike as well.

Kosmoto the older bars had a nice high rise to them, modern bars are a lot lower. I made the mistake many years ago. I’ve now got another old DT, hopefully rebuilding it soon.

@@nickcarr5596 nice! what year? And yep agreed, the older bars have a much higher rise. I got "enduro" bend fatbars and they are lower than these.

Kosmoto 81 I think. I had one as a kid as a field bike, found one cheep a few years back. They are worth a lot more now here in the UK, so I’m glad I did. I’m collecting bits for the transformation.
