Nice man, idk about yours but my forks had 3 seals, the dust seal, the main oil seal and then a rubber coated steel seal. Found out that the best way to deal with the 3rd seal is to cut a slot in it with a dremel, no full cut but so thin you can break it with a flathead screwdriver and pry it out
I've been seeing this lately and it made me wonder if I never went far enough, however, these are one-year forks from a '78 which are different from '79+. I typically check exploded view diagrams and it would have been hard to miss multiple sets of seals...but I am still wondering now xD
I put a 11 tooth sprocket on the front which made more lower geared I think it came with a 13 tooth on the front 52 rear , mine is a April 1981 I got new £660
I swapped my '79 forks for the 35mm '85 on and same thing. Had to locate and secure a triple tree. Then had to make holes to put the horn in the same spot, and had to make a plate to put the instruments back because the later ones are wider apart. Next was searching ebay for a headlight bracket. Finally could put the wiring back. Phew, took a while but thats what we like to do.
The shocks are nitrogen charged...that nitŕo does not last forever Consider a simple rebuild with a new seal head...shock oil As far as trying to use a longer shock...longer will upset the suspension geometry....fyi
The rear shock is similar to 76 yz series....minus the nitro ball....i believe there is a internal spacer limiting the shock travel ...race tech may be a source if you want to rebuild it
The stock pipe is kinda fake....inside is different than the outside...it almost resembles the new pipe if you were to dissect it Some easy piston mods will wake up the power....ask me how i know

Hi Chris! Thanks for getting in touch. I've been busy and not checking my comments. I'm currently dealing with a family matter but you can find me on instagram @kosmo7o I have some rear shock knowledge I could share
@@kosmoto Hopping he gets better. He took me off the streets, let me live in his home, now I'm part of his family. Bad things shouldn't happen to kind people. Thanks Kosmo.
Keep off the clutch. Learn to ride as slow as possible with the clutch fully out. When you de clutch you lose all momentum and you will dab. Takes practice but it changed my riding.
Thank you for the tip! I've certainly made some progress since this video, have barely uploaded though. Trials has been a blast! Where abouts are you from?
