So eerie...this haul could have come from my Mom's house...Five Little Peppers and How They Grew..(both copies, lol!!) Patterns...all of it was so, so familiar!! Thank you for sharing!!
Awesome video. I loved the books and the letters. I paused the video several times to read the letters. The first typed letter was typed by what sounded like an older gentleman who was investing in a bowling alley. He was doing it to give what sounded like younger children in his family a stake that would help them later in life. The second letter, written from Spokane, WA (I live in Washington State). The lady writing was asking the person who she was writing to when they would be visiting, because she was going to be gone on a mission trip during certain dates, and if she could raise the money, was then going to Nebraska. Her husband was in Yakima for a board meeting at the time she was writing. They were probably working for a church and the crest you saw was probably church letterhead. Thanks for sharing this amazing "haul." I loved it.
Hey Kateri! I love those letters too - so interesting to get a peek into someone's life back then! Thanks so much for the info and thanks for watching!
wow!!!!!!!!!! what treasures you have found .awesome .and the green card you said you didn't know what it was ,is a card guide to the planting of those flowers ,shrubs etc.. for that region. that's pretty old as well. enjoy those for sure .cant wait to see how you use them
I love collecting antique postcards, some dating back to 1918. The best ones are the love letters and believe me some are really weird! lol. I deconstructed an artificial tree (pulled all the leaves/wires etc) and glued real birch bark around the main branches. I only used birch bark that was laying on the ground (never peel from a tree), anyway, I cleaned and dried the bark and glued. I then put a bunch of led lights on the tree and hung these vintage post cards (mostly love letters) on the tree with some unique ornaments.
Golden Book Encyclopedia? What a blast from the past! I had forgotten those existed. How well I remember the style of the illustrations on the covers. The odd assortment of things pictured always fascinated me as a kid. edit: OMG, my heart stopped at 20:07!! I honestly thought it was from a family dinner at my Grandma's house when I was a kid. LOL But when I did a freeze frame, I realized that I don't know any of those people. Wow, that was funny. It sure did look familiar at full speed. haha
Lol! I thought the same thing when I saw that picture - maybe it's one of those pictures that looks like a picture just about everybody has, haha! Thanks for stopping by, Jay!
I subscribed , your video was great , enjoyed seeing the old books as well as others. You really have a number of views for this video as old books are a popular collectible . I wanted to clean my carpets today but I have a feeling I'll be sitting here watching your videos !!! Blessings
Marjorierose Top of the Hill Farm Well, all I gotta say about that is - watching videos is definitely more fun than cleaning carpets! Lol! No seriously thanks for subscribing and stopping by for a visit!
Great finds! I just started thrift shopping and I am amazed at what I'm finding. I have to say I'm also feeling older thinking some of the copyright dates are too close to my birth year LOL. Thanks for sharing! Lisa
Lisa Hirschbuhl Hi Lisa! And I know, right?! Lol! I keep thinking stuff that's from the 70s isn't that old, but I guess it kinda is...(big sigh). Lol! Thanks for stopping by!
Susan Jones Hey Susan! I'm definitely going to make copies, but I want to add the real thing to my journals (not copies) because I think that makes them a little more special! Thanks for watching!
What wonderful old books and magazine! I shudder to think you might be planning on cutting them up, especially the old Saturday Evening Post! I hope you only photocopy them. :)
I think the paper that says "we" "they" I think, might be bridge scorecards? Not sure. I love this old stuff, what are you going to make with these things?
I'd, also, love to see what you do with these. I've got stacks of similar pieces, in fact, bought some today - local online auction. Vintage children's books &, a box of sheet music, some old magazines & maps. Some I won't be able to cut up either - I'll scan it first. If postage wasn't so expensive from Australia to US I'd share some. Have fun creating with it.
Leanda Miller Hi Leanda! I know what you mean about postage! I sold a journal to someone in Australia and it was expensive! But thank you anyway! Sounds like you got some great stuff! Also, I use this stuff in journals I make (I have a couple of videos about that too). Thanks for stopping by!!
the 1960's pattern I would actually use as a pattern. lol. those dresses are cute!....I think I was born in the wrong era. great vintage haul! TFS ♡ beckyb
Perhaps you're too young to know, but Norman Rockwell did the art work for The Saturday Evening Post covers for years. In fact, I think all the Norman Rockwell art that you showed inside the magazine was a cover from previous years. I enjoyed your video so much, I subscribed.
I think that the game is either Pinochle or Bridge. I can see the words "Tricks" on the game card. You take tricks in Pinochle and Bridge. And you also would say, "We", "They". Hope this helps.
look on ebay how much first edition books go for and old magazines. some old histories and old ledgers, with handwriting could be considered historical/genealogical documents. maps too. i.ve abstracted vintage valentines for the handwritten names on the back for mosga.org journal. make copies and ask your historical society if they would like a donation.
Dolores J. Rush Thank you so much for the info Dolores! I've looked on EBay for some of the stuff since this video, but thanks for the other info! And thanks for stopping by!
Hey Deborah - this video is kind of old, but if I remember correctly, I do have some sheet music with a Mary Poppins song on it so you're probably right - thanks for stopping by!
Nohemy Ramos Umm. Well, it depends on which items you're wanting to know about since the prices vary. The ephemera packs on Etsy are usually about $8 or $9. With everything else, the prices were very reasonable and vary- hope that helps.
Lol! Believe it or not, I very rarely destroy my books (I love them too much). It’s been a few years since this video, but I promise that book is still in good condition! Thanks so much for stopping by Gabby!
Freedomthinker forever I know what you mean. I live in a small town, and other than what I find at my grandmother's, I usually have to go out of town to find anything good! Thanks for watching!
Why film at all If you aren't going to go through it all? Why does everyone think they have to rush? We actually want to see the haul. If you say you aren't going to show it all, we just click off and go to someone else's video.
You handle everything so roughly! I'm appalled! Valuable items need handled gently and as little as possible. Oils from skin will cause paper to deteriorate over time. Many people wear cloth gloves and touch only the edges. A few times you almost creased the pages in the books. These items will be worthless by the time you are done with them. PLEASE be more careful!!!
