I like the fact that they put screws into the razor so that it could be opened. Back then, they intended for products to be serviced and repaired, rather than thrown away like modern gadgets. A device like this could last almost forever with proper care. Awesome!
OMG! Memories! When I was a young girl (13 ish) I got this razor from my Grandma. When Christmas came that year she sent my Dad and Grandpa to another room to watch TV after we had opened gifts. She gave me a beautifully wrapped package to open and in it were six pairs of nylons, a garter belt, and that razor. I never told anyone how much I wanted nylons (Mom had already said no girl should wear them before 18!). But somehow Grandma knew and prevailed!! Thank you so much for bringing to life a precious memory of my beloved Grandma!!
My parents gave this to me in the 1960's and I had it for over 50 years. In recent times, when I plugged it in and went to use it a tiny flame licked out near the shaver and cord. Needless to say, this was the end of my Lady Remington. I loved it while it lasted!
Vintage packaging was so nice back then! I wish packaging was still this nice in 2020 especially considering how much we pay for items that don’t last as long. Lol
I love how designers incorporated a Starburst pattern in almost everything that was manufactured back then. Although very outdated at the time, I was a little kid in the 80’s and many things from the 50’s and 60’s were still lingering around everywhere so this kind of stuff definitely brings on memories. ✨✨✨
Lmfao I have been binge watching your gadgets videos and to date I have bought a Can-o-mat, a freezer defroster, a Lady Sunbeam manicurist, and now a Lady Remington electric razor. 😂 you have to stop telling me about things haha ❤️
Can we please talk about this outfit? 👗 I need a closer look at it, it's so pretty 😍 Love your vintage gadgets reviews. It's always so interesting especially with the ads 😂
I have a razor like this one, except pink. I love it. Still use it. It works much better than the new one I bought last year because I thought it would be better.
Oh my goodness. I just found you today. I’m obsessed. I just moved out of a home we had for 20 years. I had my kitchen styled in 50’s and 60’s. When we went to sell it, the 1st lady to see it, bought it. She said she couldn’t get past the kitchen. It reminded her of her grandmother’s home. I LOVE that you do you. Sooo very inspiring, you are!!!!! The next day I have nothing to do, I’m binging on your channel.
We have a 57 Chevy, and a 64 Thunderbird, both cars had an optional shaver to plug into the cigarette lighter. Both cars used a Remington Sportsman Shaver. It had the plug in end for the dashboard, and a battery box that held 3 size D batteries. I bought 2 on eBay, one for each car. Both work great, and came in a leather pouch with all the accessories.
I had to lol. I just found a 1962 Remington Roll-O-Matic Auto and Home. It came with a car lighter adapter. Still in the original case and in good working order. I bought it and thought "I wonder if Laci has any of these". Thank you for answering my question.
Oh My Goodness! Thank you for reviewing this!!!!! I love the old tv show What's My Line and Remington is a sponsor that they talk about most episodes and I always wondered about it and how it worked
Just remember that back in 1960 the everyday razors they had for women were not near as advanced as they are today. I used an old metal two sided blade that totally cut up my legs every time. Of course I was pretty young and inexperienced. So I'm not surprised that it wasn't as good a shave as your Harry's. Great video. Things have come a long way for our beauty and glamour. Lol
Love your dress! And the tile in your bathroom. I used to have tile like that in my bathroom and kitchen. There was something so familiar about the sound of that razor. Memories ⚛️
I absolutely LOVE when you do vintage gadget tests!! I literally laughed out loud when you mentioned the directions part.. you’re face was priceless and that is definitely a guy thing about not reading the directions. I won’t be coming after you!!! Lol Have a great rest of your day!!! 🥰
After watching this video I was able to find one of these that was never before used for about $20. To me it works so good. Maybe I haven't shopped around enough before, because I've never found an electric razor that cut even remotely that close. I much rather have a tiny bit of stubble that you can't even really see, then have to shave it the shower. It's a win for me.
My mom had this exact razor, and I could feel every bit of it as you were talking about it. My mom used it until she passed away 12 years ago. So, if you figure the expense, it was a steal! And yes, I got teary watching this. I know, it is pretty weird to cry over a razor video, but your description of all of the parts and watching you open it brought back so many memories. I miss her so much❤️
Love seeing the gadgets from the past. The case was well thought of too. The ad was hilarious...it wasn’t her birthday! I like your dress and sweater ...very autumn! Your cat is a cutie! Take care 🇨🇦 ❤️
@@LaciFayTheVintageGirlNextDoor that ad was cheesy I have seen a ad that my dad forced me to watch it involved Ronald McDonald on a hamburger floating down came out in the 60s☻

You couldn't have posted a bonus video at a better time! I'm all dressed up in my favorite vintage dress for no particular reason, and I'm just planning to indulge in my favorite vintage things all day. Thank you, Laci!
Kudos to you for trying it on yourself with the camera on... Some people would refuse to come up that close to show the details of their natural imperfections such as body hair 🙄 You're amazing! I love watching your videos so please keep it up!
Lol your kitty is so cute I just showed my kitties an electric razor today, daddy cat(ziggy stardust) was scared and hissed but his baby(Callaway) LOVES it lol she thinks it's for her 😹
Hi Laci - I love vintage Gadgets, your Lady Remington Electric Shaver is awesome, love it Its real ( COOL ) Love your videos keep them coming. Love& take care ❤️🌹❤️
Thanks Laci for another wonderful video!!! My Mom still uses one just like the one you have! How about doing a review on The Handy Hannah Electric Foot Vibrator Massager.
Your outfit is my favorite of all of yours! I am a confessed cardiaganoholic. I absolutely love the colors, print and style. You are so lovely in it. This was a fun video. Did you ever imagine you would be shaving your arm pit for public watching? LOL. The razor and case are so cute. I feel like things in the past were so much more classy. Even things sold in dime stores were quality. I really enjoy your channel. It is such a blessing and brings calm and joy.
I love your beautiful dress and sweater! That ad was awesome and would have sold me. I have a classic Lady Remington too and not really impressed with the shave.
Love these vintage gadget videos!! Now, if I could rush through shaving without worrying about nicks, I would totally use one, even if I had to shave more often. 😄 And LOVED the old ad. There's a podcast I love that includes many vintage ads - attaboy clarence. He also showcases vintage movies and radio shows.
Hello Laci, You’re such a darling! I love ❤️ your Channel! Thank you so much for doing the razor gadget! I really enjoyed it!!! I look forward to watching more of your videos to come. Inna ♥️♥️♥️😊🥰💄👜🐱🎀🍒🌹🌷🌻🎆🎇💗🌠
You always look pretty, but especially pretty in this video! Loved your outfit, your little shrug was so perfect, the color so vivid and beautiful - it was very flattering! I had an electric shaver in the 1960’s. I for sure had the non-luxury model, because I wouldn’t have paid $100 for it, lol. It didn’t work as well as a regular razor, so I didn’t use it much. That brochure with the misogynistic comments about reading instructions was annoying- but that was the stuff we put up with back then!
Hi Laci, I have the exact same vintage razor. I found mine to shave just like you said but I still love it. Mine came with the case and all the things you have. I wonder if we could have the blades sharpened.
Great timing! I'm actually looking for a good electric shaver right now. I'll probably go with something a bit more modern, but it was fun seeing the older product--and that commercial was hilarious
