In this video, I bring back to life a very tired Schwinn CrissCross hybrid gravel bike with a very unusual shifter, the Suntour S-1.

I have a 1991 Crisscross and still ride it to this day. It is still 100% stock except for tires & tubes and it has *never* given me a problem. It has been very reliable and is pretty much able to go anywhere I point the front wheel. Great video!

Out of all the bikes I’ve watched you rebuild this is probably my favorite so far. I just like the unique derailleur and the handlebars. Looks to me like the a good all rounder.

Not the most beautiful bike, but as ever your intention of saving the bike from the skip is admirable and it’s always a joy to watch your work. You make it look effortless and I love that your tools aren’t always the hi tech expensive latest trend. It goes to show that a good basic set of tools with a few speciality tools will serve most hobby bike mechanics.

I have a couple Schwinn Moabs and I love them. They were nicely equipped back then. If I see a Moab on the Marketplace for less than 150 bux, I buy it.

I’ve never seen a Crisscross with butterfly bars or a Suntour S-1 before. Definitely a unique bike. Nice restoration!

Clean and well done refurb. I have one that’s my daily commuter fits 700x43 tires and a nice sweep back Surly handlebar to make good all around cycle

Nice restoration. The lugged steel Crisscross frames were some of the nicest chromoly "hybrid" frames from the early 90's. The TIG welded versions (like this one) weren't too bad, either. But, not much longer after this bike was built, Schwinn took a massive nose dive in the bike industry. 😐

Hey man. Been watching your videos for a while now, and they've inspired me to fix up an old schwinn. Thanks for that. I do have a question; I own the same grease syringe but I can't for the life of me get it to seal properly. After a few pumps I need to re prime it again. You have any tips? Cool build as always.

Sometimes, mine grease gun looses prime, too. I find that there's something in the nozzle that's blocking the flow. Try taking the tip off and clean it out.
