I started watching this and realized it was really special..I paused it, and treated it like a Halloween season TV program from the 80s by sitting in the living room in the dark, grabbed a snack and enjoyed. All my nostalgia buttons were pushed, thank you so much for this.

I now realize the paper 'maxi skirt' in Grandma's special things was actually a flapper dress. Hers and Grandpa's delight at my naive outlook and Grandpa's snicker as he ran out of the room makes much more sense now that I am grandma age. ❤

Yes! The great, now vintage graphic images we love, are from this era. On EBay I came across old Halloween and other events party supplies catalogs from the 20s, but don’t remember the name. They were fabulous. Dennison’s was the name. Tfs.

The Dennison company has been in Massachusetts since the days of water power . They were class in printed material and paper products. The Framingham , Massachusetts Historical Museum has much printed material from their many years in business.

I felt a bit of nostalgia all the way through this; but also, this atmosphere feels like early 2003 or 2008 tim Burton atmosphere, and It kinda also feels like something from a dream I would have, it feels very unnatural, like it doesn't feel like it's real, it feels like something I would imagine or hallucinate, I just know i might forget this video. The ones in the second picture are attached on a branch. It’s called moss crepe paper. It’s just little pieces that droop off branches for an eerie effect. I imagine they attached the branches with string and a nail or tack.

My mother born in 1931 told me they would wear ‘old’ clothes to school on Halloween and bring a sock filled with flour. They would hit each other with the flour sock. The popular kids were always covered in flour by the end of the day. lol Can’t do that in today’s society….😞🤣

My grandmother had 5 Dennison’s Bogie Books. Not sure where she got them, but she said she had them since the 1930s when she was young. I used to look at them all the time when I was a kid and they spurred my love for Halloween in the 70s. Later, when she had to move into an assisted living home, she gave them to me. I still have them and they are in decent condition. I look through them every October and always think of her.

My Dad and Mom used to tell me about their halloweens,as they were kids growing up in the 1940s,in Massachusetts. There was some trick or treating, and they usually made their own costumes. Bonfires were lit in the middle of a street or in a park. The kids spent the week before Halloween, gathering stuff for the bonfire. The biggest things though,were the neighborhood Halloween parties!! You spent most of the night visiting the parties. Playing games,bobbing for apples,eating caramel apples,popcorn balls etc. Some of the neighborhood parties were in competition for the best party every year! Yes there was flaming paper bags with dog Doo in them,my dad said.😂

I absolutely loved your decorations and party ideas. I grew up in a small town where we knew our neighbors and I was blessed to have elderly ladies who were kind enough to make us homemade Halloween treats like popcorn balls and frosted Halloween sugar cookies all wrapped up with beautiful cellophane and tied with orange and black grosgrain ribbon. We also received homemade caramel apples and full sized candy bars. Things were much simpler and more magical than what we have now..My mom was a skilled sewer who made my costumes for me and she did it on a budget. My favorite costume she made was a mouse made from grey pinstriped flannel complete with pink-lined ears, and a long tail complete with a (new) mouse trap attached to the end! I can still remember how much fun I had walking down the sidewalk listening to trap clicking as I walked from door to door. It is the memories of these Halloweens 🎃 that remind me of what a special, magical time my childhood was. I still love the retro turn of century (20th) decorations or reproduction facsimiles to this very day. Thanks so much for sharing this this wonderful presentation with us! 😊
