Brings back memories! We had (up to) D-size pen plotters in the 80s. I occasionally had to hand edit the HPGL files to repair engineering plots. Fun times.
This honestly might be the most soothing video on all of RU-vid. Thank you for sharing, and for the extensive effort you put into fixing up this incredible machine + documenting the process for those of us who may attempt the same. Well done!
Yes. I have it run off a modern Mac with USB C. Needs an adapter. Easier to buy a plotter with a RS232 port on the back and buy a quality RS232 to USB adapter from EBay.
HP plotters are usually either IEEE-488 or RS-232. This one seems to be IEEE-488 only. Adaptors are available but much more expensive than RS-232 adaptors. Roland plotters often have RS-232 and parallel (Centronics) interfaces.
Hi! When I opened mine, a small circular part fell out - its broken but can be repaired, the question is, where does it belong... do you know if there are any good inside pics somewhere?
I did of course, but at least the ones I found are a bit unclear as its seems a scan of a bad black and white copy, so I can't find it (or I wouldn't have asked).
