Never had the doll but watched the show. I did have Marla Gibbs in box and the cloth Flip Wilson.

I do remember this as well as the talking doll and I actually owned The Flip Wilson Doll, it had Flip on one side and The character he portrayed Geraldine on the other it was really cool wish I still had it!! I still own Action Figures and dolls but lost A lot of my old original ones in A mix up with things I’d had in storage even Two original Michael Jackson dolls from 1984 which broke my heart.😞

I heard that the cast hated each other . I was surprised to learn that the cast would not even talk or hang out after filming or even on the set between shooting. Love this JJ . i always like Bookman the building Superintendent

They probably didn’t use any other color for the twist tie around his neck so as not to look like a noose thus “turning off” the audience Shindana wanted to attract. Just a thought… similar to bulletman from Palitoy vs Hasbro… I’ll let you think about that one for a minute. 😜

nice vid. I just bought one loose and wanted to know a bit more about it. No hat included, but I found a similar doll hat for cheap and hopefully it will work. My personal Good Times trivia: my wife was one of the teens in the schoolyard that the camera pans across during the credits (filmed in Hollywood)

Though I was born in '84, Good Times was definitely shown in reruns at that time and later. Not only that show, but The Jeffersons, The Jackson 5 cartoon, etc. My mother is how I found out years ago about the Jimmie "J.J." Walker doll as she had one. I'm surprised to see hear mention of the Slade doll and the controversy surrounding it. It makes me wonder if it was the inspiration for Bernie Casey's character in the 80's classic movie "I'm Gonna Get You Sucka!"

All of those shows you mentioned, are still being shown here, in Chicago. Classics that should never go away! If you have that Marla Gibbs, I would love to see it. I didn't even know it exists.
