Finding a slingshot that stays closed when you want it to can be tough. Took me awhile. Glad to see this get repaired.

I gotta say, these toys are some of the best examples of the heights of the toy development, engineering and manufacturing in the 80's. Just thinking of all the tooling involved in making all the internal moving parts, springs, gears it must've been expensive.

I've watch Toy Polloi fix several M.A.S.K toys over the years. I feel they must have used really weak plastic coupled with strong springs. I remember I had Firefly, and the back wheel broke off because of the spring action. I also remember as an 8 year old trying SO hard to fix it. (But couldn't). I still played the heck out of it though. I'm waiting for you to find and fix one of these to at least bring some peace to my childhood memory after all these years.

thank you! Made my slingshot work again, the doors weren't closing, but the tabs weren't broken, just misaligned, like yours. Had to have four hands doing the work, so you doing it alone is impressive. Experience shows.

Awesome video! Slingshot was my favorite M.A.S.K. vehicle, unfortunately I don't have mine anymore, but I do have many happy childhood memories of it!

Another one of my favourites Dave, the design on the sides of the camper just scream 80s! This is a very difficult vehicle to work on, I know many that have tried and failed to repair it. Bravo Dave, and again I’m always amazed by photo shop lol, dunno why just am 😂 Inspirational as always Dave 👏👏

Nicely done once again Dave! The MASK vehicles are always so numerous and varied in their bits and pieces, it must be super satisfying once you get them back together and working. Great video!

I remember my mam getting this for me one Xmas although it was Sly Rax and Piranha I really wanted. She went back out and scoured the shops to get it, which was no easy thing near Xmas time. Always felt bad about her having to do that which is why I've always had a soft spot for Slingshot, not to mention that it was probably a better toy. Great to see one getting restored Dave! Bravo!

MASK toys are amazing and they are absolutely fascinating to look at when taken apart. The mechanisms inside can range from complicated to straight-forward/simple, but everything has to be perfectly aligned and in working order for these toys to work. I love watching you repair these toys! Every time you manage to get one, I usually follow suit and get one also. I think that it might be a case of "letting Dave go first" on my end of things! LOL. I figure, if Dave can figure out how to fix where these vehicles commonly fail, then I might have a chance to also, and I'll have your video as a walk-thru guide! lol. Toy Polloi 101 classroom for toy collectors like me! You know that I love your channel, Dave, and videos like this one are the reason why! You make videos that are informative, entertaining to watch, and easy to follow. You're always very creative, and often think outside the box/unconventionally to fix these aging toys, and I love that aspect too. This one was a bit more straight-forward though, so the fixes weren't too tough on you. It was nice to learn that the one broken part wasn't really necessary for the vehicle mechanisms to work in the end! Thanks again for the amazing video, Dave! I really enjoy these MASK episodes in particular! You're a wizard, my friend!

I think most toys are fixable, so never be put off collecting them. With MASK it's always fun for me as this is the first time I am collecting them and working on them so I never know what is going to be broken when I open them up. I like that part of it.

@@toypolloi I think that's why I'm enjoying the MASK videos as well! I'm also new to collecting these toys. I remember them from my teen years, but I never had them. It is all these years later that I have become interested in the toys, and I've started to collect them now, but confess to being a trifle intimidated by them after having difficulties repairing the Raven. As it stands now, I only have a few of them. I have the Thunderhawk, Raven, Rhino, Condor, and Jack Hammer. Each one of them arrived with missing parts, some minor damage, or in some need of repair. The Raven vehicle didn't launch the buzz blade so I took that one apart, and it was an epic struggle to mess with! I found it to be next to impossible for me to put back together because of all the spring loaded bits inside! Every bit needed to be aligned and set properly, and it was difficult to get it all set-up, and to then get the body back together before the interior parts became misaligned again, and I'd have to start over! I did finally manage to get that one back together again, but it took me EIGHT tries to accomplish that! You need to have three hands, or at least a jig to hold things in order to screw things together against the tension of the springs! Good grief, it was hard to do! I managed to fix the wing doors and license plate features on the Thunderhawk, and I found new tires for it via a French seller on eBay. It was in nice shape otherwise with all the stickers and Matt Tracker in the small helmet. I repaired the grill feature on the Rhino rig, and restickered everything. The Jack Hammer didn't have the gun for his raised chair, but I found a repop version online that wasn't too expensive. Despite the difficulty of the Raven, I really do love these toys! They're just amazing in their engineering, and the kind of toy thinking that we just don't see with today's toys. The very next vehicle on my checklist is Slingshot, so watching your video has made me eager to pick one up! It doesn't look nearly as complicated as the Raven, thank goodness! Firecracker, Switchblade and Hurricane are also on my list, so I'm really into your MASK videos. They're so fun to watch!

Maybe use the pliers *and* gloves when working with that contact cleaner. That's what _I_ would do (now that I've been _warned_ about the glass irritant, that is). And a dust mask, maybe?

I have one observation and one question for you. First I really like the way you work by trial and error (fitting things together and measuring by eyesight). I am referring specifically to the cutting of the metal wire in order to repair spring loaded wings on the plane, very cool. Last is my question. Have you ever taken something apart and found like dirt, rock/s debris or even another toy in the empty spaces? Sorry if you get that question all the time but I can just picture Lego pieces, thread, pebbles and other things waiting in the empty spaces when trying to make a repair.
@toypolloi
@toypolloi Год назад
Thanks. Trial and error is the only way to go when you are working on something for the first time. And yes, I find parts inside toys all the time. Often weapons for figures and other odd bits.
