Since you asked, I like everything about your videos. It's cool that you focus on instrumental applications, since so many others focus on voiceover. And I don't think you asked, but I'd also be super interested to see more if you ever decide to branch out with other kinds of videos, like discussing how you got into all this, or diving into some gear from your own collection, or showing a restoration process, or tips on mic technique, storage, maintenance- or none of that! Because it's already beyond cool that you take the extra time to not only restore, but _document_ these gems for us 🙏💯💯

The Revox sounded beautiful on acoustic guitar although very boomy on certain low notes. I like the darkness of it on metallic sounds.

Those drums looked like a set of Stars from the 60s. (Japanese copy of Ludwig).. I drove 5 hrs round trip to buy a 4 pc set for $185... I later traded them to a friend, but kinda wish I still had them. Those old MIJs were great

Something about the D12 always just sounds right to me on kick. It's punchy but not too modern/scooped sounding. The Beyerdynamic sounded better on kick in to me. I guess the figure 8 polar pattern does a good job rejecting the basketbally reflections of the shell!

The D12 sounds more like someone knocking on a door than a kick drum. The M380 is capturing about as much snare as kick. Just because something is vintage and cool (because these mics are cool and do sound cool) doesn’t mean it sounds “Best” these are two pretty objectively bad kick mics compared to just about anything on the market now
