Very Nice , I love collecting vintage fragrances , i'm going to have to check out those first 3 , Passion I love I have a vintage and a new bottle in the women's and men's versions .love all the Elizabeth Taylor Fragrances they are awesome
I sometimes wish I hadn't given up drinking when I watch your videos, it looks so good!! I was working in Selfridges department store in London in the 80's when Liz Taylor came into town to promote Passion. I remember it well 💘
+Pine Rocks Hey don't pick up that bottle because I make it look glamorous and fun. If there is a reason you are not drinking and it is personal stick to it. I bet Elizabeth made a sensation at Selfridges! What fun that must have been.
Vintage Lanier = Classic Lanier! Loved the episode; enjoyed the review of these vintage fragrances and I now feel cleansed in a wave of class and an air of sophistication...even though I am sitting at home in my underwear after having bench-pressed and dead-lifted tons and tons of weight at the gym....45-pounds at a time. LOL! Just like your box that is, "...a little beat-up...it's very old...it's been through a lot" so am I...but I survived and getting better with age. I am vintage! Anyway, I'm going to a 70s/80s singles party this evening and need a fragrance that screams, "I am single...love to mingle...yet only attractive gals can grab my ass on the dance floor. LOL! And if you don't gimme three suggestions I am going to wear Sauvage and tell everyone that who asks that I'm wearing Lanier #16. ;) All kidding aside, there are a few of your vintage fragrances that I am definitely going to check-out this Summer. Much appreciated!
Dear Lanier! Thank you for sharing these amazing jewels with us! Such great stories and heritage! Evocative and sublime! Each and every one of them! Tabing the tongue! How marvelously decadent! I'll have to share my story about James Lee Byars one day soon... another exapmple of pure decadence! ;) xoxo
+Super Dacob You know I somehow knew that the tabing of the tongue by ET would resonate with you. A perfume psychic moment if you will. YES do share your James Lee Byars story soon. I love a good Dacob story...they are Super!
OMG Lanier, this video made me SO happy! I'm so glad you made a video dedicated to gorgeous vintage perfumes. I actually found a vintage bottle of Norell in an antique shop about a day after you did your Norell unboxing video, and thanks to your video I knew the enchanting history of this perfume and was like OMG! this is the perfume Lanier just unboxed, and of course I picked it up and I am SO IN LOVE with it! My Sin by Lanvin is also divine, and I am so interested in this Audrey Hepburn inspired perfume by Givenchy after watching this video! PLEASE do more like this!
+Diamond Diva Princess Oh thanks Princess! So happy you found Norell and love it. I will do more but first I have to get some more vintage bottles. What you saw is my cache so far. But never fear there will be more. coco coco coco
Bravo! Part raconteur, part historian, you've opened my eyes to the world of vintage fragrances. Madame Gres is a fascinating story onto herself, isn't she? Now I must try "That Man" and follow-up with those intriguing books "Scent and Subversion" and "The Perfume Collector". You're the best, Lanier!
+Bigwave2003 Oh thanks so much BIG! But truly the Best are you and all of my lovely subscribers. You make me want to do the best I can for you in my reviews! Cheers and enjoy those Books!!
I had no idea that Norell was so early. Yet I had always thought it had some similarity to Revlon Moon Drops.......... I've loved My Sin by Lanvin since first sniff in the late 1960s, but it was too old and sophisticated for me at the time. Wish I'd bought it anyway.
+Stanleydragonjr MJ I hope you really enjoy Barbara's book. It is a life changer for anyone who loves perfume. It will "open doors for you, doors you never dreamed existed." Cheers!
Hi thereLanier, Just recently discovered your Videos. I really very much enjoy them. I like how you combine the cocktails and the movies and your stories with the fragrance reviews. Thank you!
You're one of my favourite channel and reviewers - It's so nice to see you sharing with the world your life experience/story, knowledge and passion for vintages !!!!
This video gave me the idea, why not do a top 10 most sophisticated modern designer fragrances. I'd be really curious to know what you would choose! :)
Haha, sounds good Lanier. I’m an entrepreneur/copywriter… one of those people with ideas in my head 24/7 :-) …if only my hands matched up to the speed in my head eh!
That was a very enjoyable film. Thank you. How wonderful to have a signed bottle! I will acquire that book. I have two of the books you suggested to me once before and I have read one already. Thank you for the recommendations. And thank you also for never calling your audience 'bro'.
+Daniel Hammond oh that bro comment made me laugh at the end. Thank you Daniel I am so pleased you are enjoying the books I recommended. Cheers friend!
This is wonderful! There is *something* about buying vintage perfumes--not only do they have more of a "soul" than the modern ones, but I enjoy wondering about who owned them and wore them before me. They're like a window into another time. What a great story about 'Passion'! I have a modern version of 'Passion,' but would like to smell the original. First time I smelled it I actually didn't like it! But, I put it away for about a year and tried it again, and now I can appreciate it. It's actually one I like wearing to bed, there's something comforting about it.
Yes that was a wonderful day at Macy's and well worth getting scolded for leaving my post. I agree Eliza... Passion is very comforting at bedtime. Cheers luv.
Fantastic as always !!! I want to thank you for turning my nose towards a scent I never sniffed....DIOR ADDICT EDP !!! I loved it at first sniff...I have the pre-2014 edp version arriving in a couple days !!! Also found another gem....Shalimar Parfum Initial L'Eau.......another love at first sniff...and one more....Lalique Le Parfum.....drys down to a Dior Homme Inrense vibe on me. I just picked up also....Balmain de Balmain......classic..chypre/floral....STUNNING!!! Mitsouko is still my holy-grail....edp,edt.....I have yet to smell the Extrait.....looking forward to sniffing that.
+JohnCarlo Burton JohnCarlo! I love Lalique Le Parfum and Balmain de Balmain...you have Great tasted! Thanks so much for your kind and heartwarming words. Cin Cin!
Oh My Lord! Audrey Hepburn! I would love to get my nose on a sample of L'Interdit from the 50s or 60s. I did snag a vintagey bottle from what I believe is the 70s, and that smells amazing! I sniff that fragrance and dream I am chatting (wittily, of course!) with Audrey. Sigh.... But I must find a sample of My Sin. Great vid, mille grazie!
+Jon Komatsu L'interdit is indeed very Audrey. And interesting side note it is the perfume she spritzes in Breakfast At Tiffanys. Good luck on your quest for it and for My Sin. (also gorgeous!)
Glad to hear you speak about my fellow Welshman, Richard Burton. In fact, I've heard you mention him and good old Liz in a few of your videos. Richard was from the village of Pontrhydyfen (don't try and pronounce it). I played rugby there a couple of times. You wouldn't expect that the village would produce an international star. I'm going through your older videos after you replied last night. Cheers. Jack.
You are Welsh...I knew there was a reason I liked you Jack! (And you have Richard's real last name to boot!) Yes Elizabeth and Richard and I have a fabulous history...you can read about it here. sentsmemory.wordpress.com/2012/11/18/memory-e-t-and-me/

Wow , too much history in this video Amazing May i ask you about femme from Rochas ? I had madam rochas and want to buy femme on line , but never tried it on before ?
It is very Big and bold and a lot of tuberose. I love Tuberose so it is one that I adore. But it is Big and fills the room. If you like that kind of thing it may be for you. Cheers.
