NOTE: It has been pointed out to me that I have modified the way Skeletor was originally supposed to work. This video shows the battery box being the switch for the lights. The original had the arm as the switch. I will do a follow up video to show a version that uses Mattels original setup soon. Cheers

This sounds interesting as to how the arm could be used, as your fix worked.

Good thing that you did not glue the upper part, talk about listening to your Spider sense...

I really enjoyed this two-part video, Dave! I must admit that I'm not the biggest fan of most of the more gimmick-type MOTU figures, and I've never really liked the look of this Skeletor figure. It's largely due to the look of the head sculpt. It just seems like a different character to me. I prefer Skeletor's original MOTU head design far more. I never thought that this particular armor design was particularly interesting either, though I like the copper color. That said, you and your videos have a way of changing my mind about such matters! After watching you repair these figures over these last few vids, I now find myself considering hunting for one. lol. Thank you for helping me see the value in the figure, and thank you for letting me know it's weakness, and showing how to fix them. Most appreciated! I also noticed that your stitching is getting a lot better! There's a fluidity to your sewing movements that wasn't there a few years ago that shows that your confidence has grown where straight-forward sewing is concerned. That's very nice to see! My grandfather sold sewing machines for the Singer Sewing Co., and passed sewing knowledge onto my father. My Dad showed me how to sew with machines and by hand when I was a mere lad, so I love seeing you stitching things together by hand. I wish more guys and gals delved into learning skills like this. Even simple sewing techniques can prove to be a valuable skillset to have. It's always come in handy for me, anyway. :)

Glad you know about the actual switch now. I was wondering when watching “why isn’t he just lifting the arm up” as this moves the copper in the back to hit the battery compartment copper so you get the connection.

I hadn't realised the "New Adventure Of He-Man" Skeletor was so similar to this one, it's messing with my head a bit!

Dave, this is a killer repair and I enjoyed both parts of this restoration. Your always so generous supplying the patterns for these fixes and didn’t even know this figure existed until watch this. Cheers!

Thanks. I never like people who have something everyone needs and keep it for themselves. Fixing toys should all be about helping everyone.

Hey Dave. Another awesome video for sure. You always show us something new that we can learn to fix our precious vintage toys. I find it amazing that you are using copper to fix the lighting action on that Skeletor. I'm using copper myself, but it is to fix the power pack that lights the eyes of the Mumm Ra action figure from the vintage Thundercats toy line. Wish me luck. Thank you Dave. Much appreciated. Cheers! 👍

It's not a figure I much cared for either. But since working on it, and especially after the Barbarossa build you will see in a few weeks, I really like the figure now.

I am not a MOTU collector but still enjoy all the skills you use. Yours was a great solution but instead of the battery insert you could use a bit of wooden dowel to hold the compartment for display.

The strip of copper will be easier to bend to shape starting from the bottom. That way you can use something round and hard like a nail to wrap the copper on and then make your straight bends afterwards which are the easier bends to make.

So awesome. This whole series of videos you've started has really gotten me wanting a reproduction Laser Light Skel. Along with the meteorbs, the two Laser figures are something I'm really not familiar with. Just wondering though, no paint touch ups on these two?

Excellent. Nice work with the copper. Curious to see how the original switch was set up. As a display piece with the replacement parts, I think your solution seems perfectly fine. The two figures look great now!

Hello! I've decided to do the cape replacement myself. From the link you have shared, what color is the one you have used? the Pink Q0203 or the Purple Q0702? Thank you!

I wish I had your talent. My "fixes" pretty much top off at a heat gun, replacing o rings, unscrewing and reorienting incorrect assembly, or dipping ball joints in nail/furniture polish/superglue to tighten them up. Kids stuff compared to your masterwork.

Hello, I have the laser light Skeletor from 1987, but do not understand why I cannot place an AA battery in the black holder. The battery does not fit, I have to force like a crazy person... Would you know what is the issue? The battery holder (original, it's my toy from when I was a child) does not appear distorted, so I do not understand where the problem comes from... Thank you for any feedback :-)

I created it from scratch in Hit Film Express. All my intros are made using that package. Apart from the 3D bits which I make in 3DS Max. Cheers

I really like this repair, Dave. The copper work was very interesting. I am curious as to how the arm functioned as the switch. I never owned this figure or knew anyone who did, so I do not recall how it worked. The capes really complete the look. Cheers!👍

What was the fabric you used for the cape? You mentioned that you would put a link to it in the description, but I don't see it.

He mentioned it several times in the video. Notably around the 15:30 mark. Not sure how you missed that. And I’m guessing he’s gonna update the description with that detail later. I guess he was busy making sure the video properly updated or he’s busy editing the next video at the moment.

So...Barbarossa doesn't actually sell a build your own kit like he sent you? I've looked over his site and only found a couple parts for this figure, or a complete, built figure for nearly $400...
@kaylemathewcomendador6964
@kaylemathewcomendador6964 2 года назад
From the looks of it, not at the moment. Either that buildable version is coming soon (based off of how most of the light up MOTU figures are mostly pre-order stuff at the moment) or that kit was just a special gift to Dave from Barbarossa Customs.
@toypolloi
@toypolloi 2 года назад
It will be along soon, I think it is being timed for when my video on the kit goes live next month. Cheers
