Vintage lens: Takumar 55mm f2.0 - Auto Revuenon 55mm f1.7 (Tomioka) 

Hi Tim, thanks for your comment. I really like the build quality of the Auto Revuenon, it's a nice lens, but the Takumar is just a little bit better. And by the way, since I know you like old engines :) That boat in the picture is the oldest steam powered tugboat in The Netherlands. It's called 'SS Furie' and was built in 1916 and is still in operation.

Oh that's interesting, I've never heard of that. But the Auto Takumar is by the way different from my SMC Takumar in this video.

@@ohjajohh Yes. I have three Takumar 55s, two auto-Takumars , the f2 and the f2.2, and a Super Takumar f1.8. They're all very sharp lenses. I asked the vlogger if there was documentation that Tomioka made the auto-Tak f2 and disagreed with him that film era lenses should be used with film and my comment was seemingly removed. I wonder how much difference the multicoating in the later versions makes on sharpness, but until someone does a comparative study I'll just have to wonder. All the best.

Tak 55 is only f/1.8 not 1.7
