These are my vintage LS plastic model gun kits collection. I used have a few LS kits back in the days and when I got the Super Blackhawk again in 2014 - It was my first LS gun kit - I was over the moon. Then until 2017 I collected more of them. LS gone bankrupt in early 90's so it is sad that I cannot see any new kits from them... 😭😭😭

I absolutley loved making these kits in the mid seventies and early 80s.Built the m16 a1 and ak47 extremely accurate and educational how each type of gun really operated.Would love to build some again with modern day finishing tequniques.

Those kits as a kid made me to collect real firearms when I grew up 😍 When compare them with the real ones they were quite accurate and yes with modern painting tech they would make great replicas although they will need lots of work and putty work due to shrinkage on surfaces. Even back then M-16 and AK47 kits were quite high priced ones but my friend had them and I was drooling! HaHa!! Thanks for watching and commenting and especially thanks for your sub. Much appreciate 😍 Cheers! D J

Same here ,I had the M16 and whe I went to buy the AK47 (after saving my pocket money for months) it had sold and the modle shop said they stopped making them Hart broken to this day ,even tho I owned the real firearms and shot them ,still wish we could get these

Just stumbled n this. I loved these kits and made at least a dozen and thought I also had Colt Army and Navy Percussions models (???) I still have a broken Colt 1911 Auto. I used to pack then with plasticine and old nuts, bolts screws, washers etc. to give them more weighty feel. and I loved "metalising" the plastic to make them look used. I sold them all at a Sunday market one day and they sold very well and very quickly. I guess that was in the early '80s ? Living in the UK it is difficult to obtain anything that resembles a "real" firearm now , but I'd love to have those models again. Pity they are no longer available.

LS was a great plastic model company not only in terms of gun kits but other genre models. Pity it went down. Some of their moulds were sold to other companies but never those gun kits... Of course now not many people will buy it being old fashioned plastic kit which require bond and paint to finish and there are many BB guns to choose from. Well, NZ is also hard to get those ones look like real gun. All were good old days gone by... Thanks for dropping by and commenting. Cheers! D J 😄

If you can find them you can still get 1:1 scale replicas of the old cap and ball percussion revolvers, they aren’t covered by the current ban on replica firearms in the U.K. as far as I’m aware.

That took me back. I collected those in the late 1970's, including the AKM, M16a1/M203, XM177 rifles, three Model 29's (4 inch, 6.5 and 83/8ths). Probably numbered around a dozen. I discovered a way to get a good finish on the Model 29's by covering them with blue and black shoe polish and "bulling" them, or "spit shine" as the Americans call it. Then oversprayed with clear lacquer to offer some degree of protection. Great finish, very realistic but still fragile. Looked cool on static display. I learned a lot about how firearms functioned from these models. Nowadays these unmade kits are worth quite a bit of money. One thing though, the "broomhandle" name on the Mauser C96 refers to the shape of the pistol grip, not the wooden stock.

Hi, Bo, thanks for watching and commenting. It is great to know that my video took you back in time. All the memories of younger days building and painting these cool models kept me collecting these. Back in the days I also built and painted them. I painted in silver first then black sprayed over it then rubbed soft enough to remove black in the high edges to simulate wear and tear on metal then clear blue spray on top. Those were the fun days with no funny concept of PCs and so on. Thanks for the info on broomhandle 😊 It is my most favourite one in the collection. Thanks again and have a great one. Much appreciated!

Started building LS 1:1 scale handguns in the mid seventies here in the U.K., had about fifteen models which ended up being mounted on a board and hung on the wall of my father’s study.I remember that in the 1980’s another company started selling 1:1 scale handguns that weren’t glued together but rather were assembled in the same manner as the real thing but can’t remember the name of the manufacturer.

Yes, those were the innocent days when the world was not as mad as now. These are pretty accurate when compared to the real ones side by side but lack of that feeling. However, as kit form preserved for decades they have their places in toy history. Thanks, mate for watching and commenting! 😁😁😁

i got in at the end of all this , i got 2 civil war pistols before this part of the modeling industry died, and looking at all the models i could have built back then frustrates me beyond all reason, i remember in oklahoma they were selling these kits from kiosk's in a couple of malls in tulsa . and then some stupid anti-gun ass decided they looked to much like real guns and that was it.

What is the best glue to use for these? Instructions just say “ABS Cement.” I spotted a Tamiya brand there in the video. I think I also read that standard superglue will suffice but I’m not keen to experiment blind!
@MyToyMuseumDJ
@MyToyMuseumDJ 2 года назад
There are two type of plastic in LS kits. Standard and ABS plastic. You must use ABS glue where indicated in the manual. Super glue is not recommended for them. Normal plastic glue will not bond ABS plastic. Hope this helps. Cheers, D J

Is there anything about the company LS to be found anywhere on the internet? A few days ago I bought a ready-made Luger 08, an unbuilt Uzi kit plus two hand grenade kits from this company, but unfortunately I can't find much about it - you can find a few things at Scalemates, but nothing more. Does anyone have a website that has more info?
@MyToyMuseumDJ

A Japanese plastic model manufacturer LS who released plastic gun kit series in the later 70's to early 80's was extremely well designed with superb box arts. Because the company was bankrupt in 1992 some of their kit moulds were purchased by other companies but somehow gun (all non-firing scale model pistol and rifle kits alike) line did not continue anywhere. Perhaps due to the low market demand with possible reason that no one wants to build and paint old school gun kits anymore whereas there are tons of ready built and beautifully finished BB soft airguns and gas guns on the market. They are not easy to find even in Japan and can be very expensive. It is great that you have bought a few kits from LS. Apart from gun kits, kits such as grenades, military knives and so on, their molds were purchased by a Japanese company Arii among other plastic kits molds but that's about all. Hard to find any comprehensive website on the subject, just few bits and pieces scattered around the web even it is hard to find any in Japanese web.

Nice collection! I recently rediscovered an LS M-16 A1 gun kit my father bought in the 80s and 90s that was never built. Since i have no intention to build it i want to sell it. All of the well known plattforms like the austrian/german/uk ebay and other local websites forbid to offer these gun related items i dont know where to offer it - do you know where i can offer it or maybe are you intersted?

Hum... At least back in 2018 I could find quite a few listings on eBay for LS model gun kits. Even now I see one listed in the US eBay. However, I know now it would not be possible to ship or receive such model kits via post let alone advertising them on many auction platforms thanks to too much PC. As a collector and model builder I would love to buy from you but I am not sure if such transaction be possible. Please email me - actiondj65@hotmail.com Thanks! D J
