Hulk and Thing Fist-Fighters seem like a massive missed opportunity. They have the bulk (and actual fists!) to pull it off. Fun video, always love seeing these gems.
With as popular as THE HULK was around that time it seems like it would have been worth the gamble. Heck, once they had the new tooling MEGO could have bashed out a Rhino to build up Spidey's Rogues Gallery! It's fun to dream.
These are always enjoyable, thanks. A note: The illustrations for the American DC Fist-Fighting four weren't by Neal Adams or Continuity; they were by Curt Swan and Murphy Anderson.

Kenner installed a similar play-feature in their DC Super Powers line in the 1980s. It's pleasantly surprising to see that Mego's fist-fighters actually came out first in the 1970s.
I've still got my older brothers Capt America and Spiderman F.F.s and coz they were hand me downs I never knew you had to pull the shoulders out. They were so loose limbed when I got them that when you moved the black box they just looked like they were trying to do a Wonder Woman spin! (It was great for Capt A to throw his shield though!)
when you mention lili ledy to a vintage 'star wars' collector their eyes glaze over, heads tilt back, and drool comes out of their mouths ala homer simpson fantasizing about about maude flanders made out of ham.
Good question... I remember being extremely disappointed there weren’t Superman: The Movie figs that looked like their movie counterparts available. Was not a fan of the 12” offerings.
Was really looking forward to seeing your video about these, knew I'd reach it eventually heh. I read on the forum some kind of questioned the exclusivity of the action gimmick but such mechs are usually a bespoke design rather than something that fits into everything. Regardless I still think they are better than "Rock 'em Sock 'em Robots", it's beloved but objectively it has a lot of design limitations.
Fist Fighter Wish List: Sgt Fury and all of The Howling Commandos (1970's Era Marvel Comics) VS The Blackhawk Squadron (DC Comics Aviators) , The Master (NBC Lee Van Cleef Ninja series ) , Doc Savage VS Johnny Sunlight 2 Pack , Fem-Force, The Phantom, The Spider Master of Men, Space Academy VS Jason of Star Command Characters, Super Stretch & Micro Woman, Strontium Dog, Web Woman (Holy Lawsuits!), The Original Happy Days Cast Vs The Sweat Hogs from Welcome back Kotter, Richie Rich VS his cousin Reginald Van Dough (Harvey Comics), The Sensational She-Hulk VS Red She-Hulk, The Rookies (1970's Cop Show), The Groovie Goolies VS Star Trek The Animated Series, and Matthew Star (NBC The Powers of Matthew Star) Vs The Phoenix (ABC TV Series not the comicbook heroine).
I can easily answer that. It's all about tooling, they had different body styles and that means money. If the concept had have sold better, there may have been an expansion in that direction.
Years ago, when I first bought the VHS tapes of Mego commercials, I didn't think I'd ever own any Fist Fighting Super Heroes. I have them now, and they weren't as hard to get as I thought. I even have the Palitoy Spider-man. Brian, I speak Spanish, so let me know if you need any help with your pronunciation (you could use some).
Brick Mantooth well the joker was able to enter the famous mortal kombat tournmet so I’m not surpised after the joker is the only super villain smart a nuff to make and sell his merchandise.
How odd that UK released Lizard - a bunch of heroes and... Lizard? And no Hulk? Weird. The gimmick is one I wouldn't have liked as a child - just something to get in the way. It's not like kids couldn't simply raise the figures arms and then move the figure in a 'punching' motion. Most kids would have done that on almost every action figure!
