That stuff that looks like hair in the lens isn't dust, it's fungus. Many SLR Cameras get that lens fungus over time and it ruins lenses. You'd definitely need that thing looked at by a professional who deals with that sort of equipment. Don't mix your lens pieces or anything on those old microscopes, lens fungus will transfer pretty easily. The fungus is attracted to the coatings on the lenses.
With the thumbnail .I thought this was a new "short circuit" movie .HA!!!. but then there was New England, Clicked fast .. Cool vid bro , stay safe and God Bless
So for the one from the 90's Is having the separate controller to protect the components of the microscope? Or maybe the functions performed by the controller are the most often replaced part, then you don't have to take it all apart to repair? Pretty cool. And thank you for the information. I was just looking to get some sort of microscope that can take photos. Or works with my phone, idk yet.
It's really unfortunate how important cleanliness is for microscope performance. Used, very high quality, microscopes are fairly readily available at a very large discount, but just a little bit of dust in a hard-to-reach place can completely destroy the image quality. I spent some time working with old American Optical microscopes. They are super cheap and great quality, but it's so hard to get them fully cleaned. I'm not even sure how good a job a professional can do.
Keep up the good work man, interesting vids and neat history! I think the microscope from the 90's may be actually a bit older; with the seperate base and the style of plugs.. I found on a forum the serial number code 310000 dates 1941. I think i saw 310105-258 stamped into the bottom
You know the black one is older when you read "50-60 cycle" instead of "50-60 Hz". Would be nice to have them working and clean eventually. Keep up the good work and stay safe my man.
@@PhantomBixbite no worries. And no need to apologize hun. It's sad to see the old buildings go sometimes, if it meant something. I wish the mindset of the US wasn't so into tearing old historic buildings down. They have many tines where I live. Take care.
That's not old. I have two microscopes, one made in the 60's, a Nikon Lke, and one made in the 70's, a Zeiss Standard 16. Both in excellent working condition. Oh, and I have the tools.
I'm early for the first time in months. For some reason RU-vid popped you up right away. More often than not your videos pop up hours late. I dunno what you paid but it might cost you ten times more than what you paid for them to be cleaned. Thank you for the video.
Smoking is terrible, obviously for the person but nicotine litterally grows so if you move into a home with a nicotine stain on the ceiling its just going to get bigger and more nasty, and it makes plastic go brittle as well as discolouring it.
