Wood Brothers Racing is a NASCAR Cup Series team that has competed in NASCAR since 1950 and still competes to this very day. This is one of NASCAR'S most decorated teams, with 100 victories to there credit. Harrison Burton scored victory 100 at Daytona International Speedway in the summer of 2024. 56 different drivers have spent time behind the wheel of one of the teams race cars, including Curtis Turner, Cale Yarborough, Ralph Earnhardt, AJ Foyt, Mark Martin, Bill Elliott, Ricky Rudd, Buddy Baker, David Pearson, Niel Bonnett, Donnie Allison, Morgan Shepherd, Kyle Petty, Michael Waltrip, Ken Schrader, Ryan Blaney, Dale Jarrett, Marvin Panch, Bobby Rahal and Dan Gurney. Also the Wood Brothers Racing team is known as the first team to perfect the modern pitstop. In 1965 this led Lotus owner Colin Chapman to hire the Wood Brothers pit crew to pit his IndyCar team in the Indianapolis 500, leading Jim Clark to victory. Through the 1990s the competition really caught up to the team, in a time of multi car teams, the Wood Brothers remained a single car team. In 2011, after several seasons of some very serious struggles, rookie Trevor Bayne took the #21 Ford to victory lane in the Daytona 500 in only his 2nd career Cup Series start. Then in 2015, the team formed a technical alliance with Team Penske and signed Ryan Blaney to drive for them for the next few seasons, winning at Pocono in 2017. After having 2 really underwhelming seasons in 2022-23, Harrison Burton is set to vacate the #21 Ford at the conclusion of the 2024 season. At race 25 in Daytona, Burton started 20th and pulled out his first career NASCAR Cup Series victory, as well as a playoff berth. Josh Berry is set to take over the Wood Brothers Racing #21 Ford full-time in 2025, with Rodney Childers as the teams new crew chief.
