Being a fright elevator it might have 2:1 roping with a compensating sheave (pulley) top of the cab and counterweight most common with older traction and some winding drum machines. It reduces the speed of the car (FPM) but is able to carry more weight.

question: does the queeny tower still exist or has it been demolished since this video?

I live in the area of this hospital and the tower still stands. There is heavy demolition occurring around the outside of the building. My understanding is that there is a lot of infrastructure that had to be moved or re-directed away from the building.
