Good thinking. You sure can't make a nice casserole without a Pyrex dish, but you can cook one whether you're married or not. Get the Pyrex first, THEN figure out who to eat dinner with! 8^)
I had a wife that threw a Pyrex casserole dish at me once. Missed me and didn’t break and I could salvage most of the potatoes off the couch before the dog got them
Uhm, I guess I should stop using my antique PYREX for everyday and put it on display with the good china! Lol! Reneé, this is a lovely video. Thanks and have a blessed day 💖✝✝
I remember mom having a Pyrex set. Some great meals were prepared in them. But you sure aren't going to get any today for $2.99. Great video Renee Love you and thanks for the memories. PS. Taco stacks was at the flea market and said he was cold. You should have loaned him your heated vest😆😆
Didn't know Pyrex started as clear cookware. Looks like it was originally sold the same way Tupperware used to be - in parties. Didn't know that either. And then "Who are you marrying ...?" Well, it said the Pyrex would never wear out. As a husband of 30 years, I'm showing some signs of wear. Pyrex has also significantly appreciated in value. Hmmmmmm .....
So, Why did the Vintage Pyrex dish feel confident in the kitchen? Because it knew it had all the right "ingredients" for a perfect advertisement - a dash of nostalgia, a sprinkle of durability, and a whole lot of glassy charm!
Hi Miss Moose..I still have a few dinner Pyrex Red Rim plates my mother and father got as a wedding gift in 1944!. One another note, I have a new video out today with a radio that reminds me of your trash Auburn radio...hope you check it out if you have time. 😊
Hello Renee . I’ve got Pyrex but mine is all clear. My sister had some that was still in the box but she had used it some times and she gave it to my daughter Samantha when she moved out so she would have some nice mixing bowls. It was brown with white leafs on it. I think it had leafs I can’t remember. But anyway I think Samantha has 1 bowl left . I don’t know what happened to the others she said her sister Jasmine took them or throw them away when they were moving out from living with each other. Who knows. Well then that’s a rant . Sorry . Love the video though really wish you could get them for the prices then you can’t get them in a thrift store for those prices either. Take care. And I hope you have an amazing weekend. 🕵🏼♀️🕵🏼♀️🕵🏼♀️🕵🏼♀️🕵🏼♀️🕵🏼♀️☕️🫖☕️🫖☕️🫖🥰🥰🥰💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
Have you ever gone tho the Corning factory? Think in the late 70's, early 80's on a family trip to see relatives in NY state, we stopped in Corning ,toured the factory and got the family some new dishes & cookwear. I'd love to go again. Great product, fun video. You always instill the mind to remember things. Thanks 👍👍
I remember my mom making coffee every afternoon in the clear glass Pyrex percolator for my dad after work. They’d sit and talk about their day. Found one at an estate sale a few years ago, they wanted over $50 for it! Didn’t buy it.
Rumor has it that this glass product name was invented one day when a guy had an extra dessert in his lunch pail , and said to his pal "want some pie, Rex?" 8^) Sorry, worst pun this week! Cheers and have a great weekend.
My father was an engineer at Corning Glass Works (makers of Pyrex) from the mid-50s to the 70s. I went to Junior high just a couple of blocks away from the museum and headquarters. You couldn't throw a rock in that area without hitting some kind of Corning ware...mom had quite the collection!
We had lots of Pyrex we received as wedding gifts in ‘73. I still have a few bowls, but I wish I still had the covered casserole dishes. Never dreamed it would one day be collector’s items! 😊
I have set still in the box from 1979 and two sets I use regularly. That’s what it was meant for when I got it back then so I still use it. Not in a dishwasher though!!
Fantastic show, as always. I must admit that I never saw Pyrex items outside the U.S., e.g. over here in Europe, compared with Tupperware or similar stuff. Maybe they didn´t advertise worldwide ?! Anyways, I like their design. Are they still in business today ? Have a wonderful weekwend with a lot of Pyrex ware around you, maybe vintage or new. 🖐Greets from GER, U.
@@user-iu2ny5iq2r Thanks for the info. To whom it may concern: this special kind of glassware was invented in 1887 by "Jenaer Glaswerke" in Thuringia, Germany. Corning Inc. developed ca. twenty years later NONEX, a similar product, but it contained lead and was useless for kitchen use. So they took over the recipe from Jena in 1915 and distributed these items under the name PYREX. I think what we call "Jenaer Glas" over here is similar to Pyrex or even the same. So: different names for the same or similar products.
I have, and still use my late mom's Pyrex ware...pie plates, bowls, refer pieces...still as good as the day she bought them. See a lot of clear Pyrex items in thrift stores, not so much of the colored and design pieces.
Hey Renee! I LOVE the Pyrex and Corning Ware I have that were my mother's and grandmother's. I use the colored bowls ALL the time! Actually, I have the yellow, red and blue and have been on the hunt to find the green one. Have to check again at the Habitat store, or maybe antique shops in Chester or Newton/Andover.
So now I'm depressed. lol Mom used to have the four, colored mixing bowls and the clear percolator coffee pot. That's probably what she paid too. Now we have Tupperware and their copies. **deep sigh**
Meh, I have my micro and glassy shit that dont explode in there, all I need. And iron pans to fry bacon and other kind of meat on. And then fish. Come to think about it, I have a shitload of kitchen things. I guess I'll have to cry me a river. Put on some Julie London, and deal with it. But no Pyrex in my house. As far as I know. Man, its time for me to go to bed. Nice hair, I'm sure.
