I had one of those from 63. I don't know what happened to it but it worked when I last plated with it. I never did know how those worked and you are right, that was very innovative back in those days. Very cool video!
wow this is great. thanks for this video. I have my Bozo that was given to me by my parents when I was a baby. I am 56 and yes his neck falls back and I tried stitching his leg on main years ago. I am going to try this restoration. its great to hear all the saying. I remembered almost all of them.
I always thought they worked with a little magnetic disc on the inside, or even a strip of infinite loop magnetic tape, or vinyl tape, not a record. Great informative video!
My aunt had one in her attic, I remember it did still work and I would carry it around when we were at her place, my older cousins didn’t like it, also that “counterweight” is the flywheel
after all these years thats what it looks like,......wow like vader without the mask i went crazy as a 8 year old trying to get one i love that face beautiful paint job they did, i had a friend who i barrowed it from the record was broken so i NEVER heard him, untill a few weeks age from another video the record was in better shape so he didn't sound IEREE like hear as most millenials would say they would look at him and be creeped out i just see a happy memory,.....great video.
Awh, that's such a shame. Well, thank you for the information anyway. Here's to hoping that someday someone realises "hey, we should make replacement timing belts SPECIFICALLY for this somewhat obscure toy from the 60s!" That would be the day, eh?
That's really neat ! It would be cool if you found a Matchbox Freddy or Pee Wee Herman (even better with the factory error swapped voices lol). I always found vintage toy restorations very interesting. I would love to see some more videos like this :)
I often replace the pull cord when it’s pretty dark, while I’m cleaning the record if I think the cord needs replacing I Measure out the length of cord and use that but I do put in some extra and mark off where it needs to be cut so that way if I need to adjust a loosely tie on a ring at the marked area I’ll see how fast it goes and once it’s officially talking normally I’ll cut the string put an incredibly strong knot and super glued shut
just got a boxed bozo here in the uk he is so loud and clear its unreal, as is my scooba doo, i know mattel was also rosebud and burbank in the uk so maybe the quality is different
I can’t believe I saw this today. I’ve had my Bozo the Clown doll since probably 1969. He quit speaking around 1973 and I was about six years old. I’ve carried him everywhere and decided to try and get him fixed. Please contact me for help fixing him. He is very dear to me. Thanks so much
I have one in need of repair. It was stored in my father's attic and mice ate some of the hair and damaged the felt hands. It also needs the o ring to make it talk again. Loved it as a child which ist is still around now. Let me know if you are interested in purchasing..
