Hello C Ellison! It's awesome to meet you here on RU-vid!! Thank you so much for watching our videos and sending your very kind and fun message! It's very nice of you to share your background and interests. Sounds like you are a very successful seller/thrifter ;-) Norm and I have been married now for 51 years (since 1969). I've had so much fun thrifting/antiquing for cool things to decorate with but I have often lost interest in lots of the cute things that I used to be more into (kitschy). I still love seeing it, but felt it was time for me to make our home more classy with the MCM items that are of simpler design. And of course, you will see just how much I love the stylized birds or animals. We were also into our old toys back in the late 90's and I've sold most of my things (Barbie, JEM, etc.), but Norm is still very into his boats and cars and some planes (diecast, plastic). All his stuff is in our lower level office/TV room (that he wants to video some day). We still love vintage holiday things though. So many people were wondering where we keep all of it, so we thought we should show them in Norm's garage video and the one you viewed of our laundry room. I have been selling/buying on eBay for 25 years and just received congratulations from them this past week! I didn't even realize it. They had all of our 1st everything transactions--we were amazed they had all that information. I thought it was all gone after 60 days. We've sold a lot of toys and vintage holiday items, but I stopped after last Valentine's Day because of the pandemic. I figured sales would be poor. So instead of selling more things, I thought we should start sharing it on RU-vid and I'm glad that I decided to try it in April. We never dreamed it would be successful in 5 months! We are very happy and blessed. We love hearing from viewers like you and thank you so much for binge watching to catch up ;-) I'm so happy to hear you find us relaxing and inspiring. Congratulations on 40 years of marriage! I'd say, "You've made it!!!" So nice to hear these days. Collecting together is the most fun hobby, we think. I actually find it hard to believe sometimes that Norm is so supportive. I'm shocked at what we've found this summer--it's been amazing. We drove to WI today to a once-a-month sale. It opened at 9am and we got there by 10am. I always think I might have missed out on something special. Well, I couldn't believe my eyes when I picked up a 50's Lefton Bluebird Teapot (w/red sticker to prove it was vintage) that was marked only $16.00! I thought, "No way!!!" How do these vendors not look up this stuff??? That just paid for our trip here!" (I've done that 3 times this summer and think that we have been very blesssed.) Anyway, I just haven't gotten back to selling on eBay. I've had a few things lately that I sold, but have just been too busy with the videos (cleaning/decorating/editing/answering everyone I can). So many viewers keep asking me if I have an eBay store. I think it would do well, if I could just get some things listed! Writing all of this to you may seem unusual, but you took the time to share a lot with me ;-) So, I was just so excited to share my big find today. It is in excellent condition, no chips, but some crazing on the bottom half (just like the one in the link above). I knew when Norm took it up to the front desk, they would be shocked that it was in there shop, and that's what happened! (There are many vendors there, but so surprised that they don't look around first.) Last month when we went there, I found a Cathrineholm lasagna pan in yellow with the Norway Viking pattern in excellent condition for $9.00 (no holder)!!! www.etsy.com/listing/496859387/cathrineholm-norway-viking-dark-blue?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=cathrineholm+lasagna+pan&ref=sr_gallery-1-5&organic_search_click=1&cns=1 They were shocked then too! It was buried under some other gardening stuff ;-) I saw the side pattern peeking out. I would love to save the bluebird teapot for a thrifting video towards spring when it would be more appreciated. Glad you like them, Maria! Norm is very good at doing it carefully and with light coats at a time. We always use Rust-Oleum 2X colors and usually try to find Gloss finish for ceramic items. If you can't find Gloss in a color you want, you can always do a final coat of their Clear Gloss. Hope that helps. Try to experiment with a thrifted item that is a flat finish and you want it shiny. Or change it to one color to make it more modern looking. Thanks again for writing!

Hi LaJune! The ice lip pitchers are getting more expensive lately. I'm glad. I did want to sell some of them about 4 years ago and was a little disappointed in the prices then, so I decided to wait. So I'm glad, for one, to see them getting more interest. In the thrift haul video, where I'm holding a flowered one, we found it in an antique shop that is always very reasonable. One of the owners was there and she said it was from her booth. She had been selling her mother's collection of like, 70! I was so disappointed that I didn't know that. We didn't get to that store until early June, I think. So she said they went fast. Well, judging by what we paid $6.75 for the large one in the video, no wonder they flew off the shelves. I would have loved to see which ones she sold and what kind of condition they were in. The one we bought was in excellent condition. I really didn't have room for any more anyways, but it would have been fun to see them. That shop is out in farm country. Well, I better stop chatting now. Thanks again for watching and writing! Peg

Hi Kelly! Thanks so much for watching my crazy video and sending your fun comments! I don't know how much insurance we'd need to cover everything if lost, but we do have alarms on our doors and thieves probably would get tired fast trying to carry out all those heavy ice lip pitchers and Pyrex bowls!!! There's no earthquakes here, but we do have tornadoes and since all that is stored in the safest place in our basement, it's probably safer than you'd think. I hope that eases your mind a little. Hi Kim! So sorry to be late to respond. I've sure had a lot of comments this past week and that's very nice. Part of the reason is that another successful channel (Rachel, from "Superior Girl Vintage") gave us a shout-out and there have been many that wrote to us because of her kindness. She lives very close to the Lake Superior shore in Michigan UP. Check her out if you haven't seen her yet. She's very sweet and loves thrifting and antiquing. Thank you so much for watching Norm's video and sharing your joy of collecting Pyrex! You are just like me then ;-). Doesn't it give you lots of fun to change to the colors of the seasons and holidays?? We all love doing that somewhere in our homes, why not in our kitchen with gorgeous Pyrex or other cute kitchen collectibles? It takes up a lot of room to store it, but it feels worth it to us. I'm so fortunate that Norm really likes using and admires vintage/retro dishes. I love to change everything we are eating off of, and drinking out of, to match table linens, etc. It all makes me clean things before I put them away and that's a good thing. Hi Paula! Thank you once again for taking the time to watch Norm's basement video and sending your always kind messages. I totally understand that we all have jealous thoughts to some degree at times--it's just human and usually short-lived. I tend to be mostly jealous of women who still have their beauty--no wrinkles yet, no spider veins, no gray hair, etc. etc. ;-) I suppose that's a real common one, huh? If you've been shy and a bit insecure all your life, you want to always look your best, but that is getting harder and harder for me! I'm pretty old to be making videos!
