Getting into some real old fountain pens here. This Safety Fountain Pen is a Trademarked pen out of France ("Mylord") from probably the 1910 - 1930s. It's a classic example of the time. Though it has a few moving parts, taking it apart is fairly straight forward - just having the right knock out set up is the real key. Overall the pen cleaned up amazingly - as hard rubber tends to do. The nib is not original to the pen but is a wonderfully flexible italic from the time. For this particular pen I chose to use modern rubber seals to replace the old cork, so worth noting that there are options when restoring vintage seals. Hopefully this helps make these types of pens more accessible to the fountain pen collecting community.

Thank you for this video. I have two watremans to restore and clean and fix the rubber sealing. It is in my project bags and this video is very helpful to get them started . When you find the pen doesn't start what I do is just dip the pen in the ink bottle. as I use a dip pen writing. it might restart again as normal pen.

Thanks for the video. I’m feeling more brave about executing this procedure myself now. I’ve read how to do it, but seeing it done really helps answer a lot of questions I had.

Another great video. I'm currently working on a BHR waterman safety pen very similar to yours. One question, how snug does the o-ring need to be both on the inside diameter and the outside diameter. I bought from the hardware store a 5/16 OD and 3/16 ID o ring. I can tell that it's touching the the ebonite rod on all sides on the inside and touching on all sides the tube section of the pen; but it there is not much friction on either. Does it need to be a very tight fit to be leak proof?
