Any vintage snowmobile day is a good day. Great vid, Man! Even with all the breakdowns and bad weather it looks like everyone had a fun time. Real men ride springers!
Great video, I had two 72 Nordic we I was was a kid. My dad got them when I was 12 years old. We had them for 8 years. I was the guy who kept them working , was great fun, and a lesson in perseverance. Really like all your videos. My toy today is a 72 fiat but hope to go on a vintage snowmobile run some day. Keep up the great work 👍
One of the first sleds I ever rode was a 1972 Nordic 440! I was probably about 12 years old and my uncle just bought it to get into vintage sledding. From that point on, my uncle and I have amassed a collection of well over 50 sleds and are having a lot of fun in the hobby. That was 28 years ago, and to say, it was all started with a 72 Nordic! Take care and thanks for watching!
I will definitely try that! I don't have too much experience tuning Mikunis, so honestely I didn't even think of that! I was sure it was bad spark... Thanks for the advice!!!
Another great video my friend! Your time and effort you put in to bring us likeminded vintage sled heads your experience is the next best thing to the realtime experience of yours is much appreciated.😎👍
Dad had a Rupp 650 my older sister had a 1990 ski doo safari 377 I had a Kawasaki Drifter 440 and a 78 artic cat jag 440 my brother had a 1980 yamaha enticer 440 my uncle had a 74 chaparral ssx my cousin had a chaparral ssx and a skidoo safari with a Artic Cat 440 engine
do you guys remember the ski doo silver bullet 440i had one of them late 70s havent seen one since and yes it was painted shiny silver medium silver with red decals it had twin carbs looking back it was ahead of its time but i had issues with them carbs they never synced right but it was fast for its day
Yeah the 1973 Tnts were all silver for that year only. It was the last year with the engines mounted up on the tunnel. Twin Tillotsons are a challenge to get running well!!! Take care!!
Its funny, because I always saw the ''634 MOD'' sticker on it and thought it was a special sled... Turns out it's a mix of leftover parts and a 94 engine! Oh well!
Drop your jet needles one notch and it will quit fowling plugs. If that does not work then I would say to clean your carbs and pay special attention to your inlet needle valves look to make sure there is not a ring worn into the needles. If there is a ring the needles need to be replaced. As for the Nordic, turn the low end screw in one eighth of a turn and it should quit stalling.
Yeah, that is the advice I am getting so far, to lower the needle jet. I will definitely be trying that this winter. Thanks for the comment, much appreciated!!!
Your pilot jet is for up to 1/4 throttle. Your needle is for 1/2 throttle. Your main jet is full throttle. Try leaning out your pilot jet or drop your needle 1 step.
Merci!!!
Do you run mixed. Or is it injected. If it is it could be spitting way to much oil.("depending on the type of the oil injection") (added I'm not even sure they have oil injection lmao) Which in turn fouls the plugs, also is it fouling both or one at a time. Also great video. Gotta love the old sleds, always need a starting point.
It runs on mix. I think oil injection only started in the early 80s…. You are on the right track though, cause most guys advise me to lower the needle one notch to lean it out a bit. Probably too rich and it’s causing the fouling. Glad you enjoy the videos and thanks for the comment! Take care!
I see some Polaris and Arctic Cat showed up this year! That TXC Polaris is quite uncommon, not as unique as the brown Nordic, but uncommon. Not sure about your plugs... we've always needed spares on a run and some days there was more fouling than others. You could try a hotter plug and see if you get a better burn out of it, otherwise, I think it's carb work.
Yeah, I’ve tried hotter plugs without any luck. I got another comment that suggested I lean out the mix a little by moving the clip on the main jet needle. Gonna try that…
@@mattsws If you lower the jet a notch, watch your plugs close. If you get her too lean, that's when guys burn holes in the piston. I wouldn't rule out full carburetor rebuilds just to ensure that all the internals are as fresh and clean as possible. If there's any issue in there, which sometimes those issues are not visible to the naked eye, we don't want to compensate by straying from factory specs too much for too long. For long term engine health, those factory specs really need to be respected. Good luck getting her fixed! Oh... little side story... I met a guy in WI whose son's is name is Everest, and the youngster is now riding one and getting into Everest restorations! I'll have to direct him to your video!
@@kennethgoin628 Yeah, I cleaned the carb on that sled when I got about 10 years ago. Has been running ever since, but might want to go through it again for good measure. Thanks for the advice! Take care!
