Bends & Dents on Vintage.
Quick demo focusing on damaged vintage and how to bring them back to life.
1. Blot card spray gently on the trouble area, front and back.
2. Let the card rest for an hour being retained lightly between two discs. Keep the clamps at the edge of the discs so you don’t smash the card.
3. Finish the process by putting the card in the humidor for an hour.
Practice on an old base card. I bet you’ll impress yourself. It’s not a tricky process and it produces great results.

I just bought a rack pack of 90 Fleer Basketball. All of the All-Star cards have horizontal lines across the front. Like imprints of the cellophane seams from a weight pressing on them. Do you think they can be removed with this?
@kurtscardcare
@kurtscardcare 8 месяцев назад
I’m not sure, I think the surface on the 90 Fleer is pretty tight versus the vintage texture. By all means, give it a try, if it works out well please let me know. It’ll be a good tip to pass on.

Just don’t trim your cards or add any color to them. That will definitely be an alteration. But restoring them back to the original condition has never been an issue. I use PSA all the time. Great question.

@kurtscardcare

When you hold a card with little clips like this, it’s much less pressure and torque than a screwdown. But that’s a good observation for sure. If you have any screwdown damage, I can show you how to fix it.

Hi Kurt, I notice in this video you kept it between the clamps for like an hour, but on a previous vintage video you kept it for eight hours and then another 10 hours. Curious if you can comment on duration. Also, how soon after damping the card do you put it between the clamps?
@kurtscardcare
@kurtscardcare Год назад
That’s a great question. If you notice I only used a little bit of moisture on this card. That means it dries pretty quick. So I was able to hold it flat for an hour or so just to let the remaining Cards Spray rest in the card. Then I put it in the humidor and it worked out really well. Be super careful not to smash the card. To tight. If you get a card, totally wet do not clamp it down. It will smash the edges and corners. On my more recent videos, the cards have been dirty with lots of wrinkles, and I’ll typically soak the entire card. When you do that you gotta dry the card super slow. I use the card mat material to help wick away the moisture. Stuff like that takes a couple days between three plates. But if you’re just working on a wrinkle one or two like this, it’s a pretty quick job.
