Take as long as you want! We really appreciate all of the videos you have posted! You are one of the great channels on RU-vid! I will always watch all of your videos past videos and present!
Thanks Kelvin very much appreciated. Thanks for all you time and effort that has inspired me and giving me a nice little collection to listen to. All the best Michael
Michael I wish you a good rest and back when ever your ready with some more vintage content. Just to let you know I bought a Sansui 101 and Wharedale diamond 3 speakers and love the sound. Really nice detail thanks to your reviews so I am a happy bunny.
Interesting. I've had a lot of gear over the years. Some nice Rotel amps, Hitachi SR802 Receiver which I still have but needs a repair to the output stage, A few Sansuis, AU 101, AU222a and 555a. I always come back to the Sansui. The one constant for nearly 50 years is my Tannoy HPD385a 15" monitors. They make anything sound good, and make Sansuis sound Great. The warmth and richness is astonishing for such lower end amps. I don't have a TT anymore, but even wifi streaming to an Airport connected to the 555 is really quite acceptable for my 70 yo ears. Piano solos, vocals, strings, all picked out. I can even put up with good jazz, which isn't my thing, but Pepper or Coltrane works. But the setup can rock when I feel like it. Good way to meet the neighbours! Never felt the need to show off with a Macintosh or the like, but imagine the Tannoys would shine if I did. But then I'd need a TT again....
Those Tannoy's look fantastic. I am always on the lookout for a 555a or 505 just to add to the collection. Think that will be me done by then. I am happy with the sound im getting out of these low budget amps. If I win the lottery one day then Ile look them Tannoy's up. Thanks for the comment
Take as long as you need to get the joy of listening back again, Michael - too much critical listening kills the pleasure. Thanks for sharing your insights and keeping it real over the last couple of years, and I look forward to your future content!
Hi Michael, I still remember when you discussed the Sansui 200. I kind of liked the idea of a cheap low power Sansui receiver, so after that video I went straight to eBay to look for one. It was not there, but there was a Sansui 800 for sale. Something like €129,- which seemed an OK price to me. So I bought it. It turned out to be cosmetically the best HiFi item I have (and I only buy cosmetically good items). So I am well pleased with that. Anyway, I guess that makes you an "influencer"!! Well deserved, I must say, cheers.
@@hugobloemers4425 Nice when one comes along like that. Some people manage to keep them in good condition considering they are 50 years old. Better than some thats been left in a damp loft or worse still gargage.
Classic Video games and console review would be great Mike! I tend to play the older games but more PS2/original Xbox era. Some of the Snes and Megadrive also but not original, only on emulation.
I will tell you what I kept and still have up to now: Amps/Receivers: Hitachi HTA 7000, Hitachi SR 2000, Rotel RX 203, JVC AX E700, Technics SA 180. Tape decks: Technics RS B33W, JVC KD A3. Speakers: Mission 760, JPW ML510, Technics SB 30, Mission Denon SC M50. Turntable: JVC L-A21 DAC: SMSL Sanskrit 10th MK2 Headphones: AKG K240.
@@MichaelYates I think they were just the ones with the least issues rather than the best sounding. I had to stop sometime, like yourself. End up with too much gear.
Take a break, time is more important. Still be here if you return. Great video btw always wondered what you had, and wanted to know what your main system is.
Absolutely, it's about enjoying music. RU-vidrs often burn themselves out, which turns their passion into a tiring job. Breaks are necessary, just like with any normal job. I know you mentioned that you're not an expert, but your personal advice has helped me find a love for monitor audio. The B2 on stands, pine speaker, and pine stand I got from Etsy for £90 have a beautiful design in my bedroom. This setup made the sound stage twice as good, and the music feels like it's everywhere, which I hear is a good thing. It's hard to get honest advice online because many RU-vidrs have contracts or sponsorship deals, which can make their videos biased. Your advice is definitely better. Thanks again, Michael.
