Been looking for a video like this for a long time. Always wanted to see one of those fancy tripod spotlights have a worthy light coming from them. Very cool!

Pat 23, they were made from 50's to the early 80's. They can contain asbestos disk under old lamp base and in the woven insulator. Good video, given me some ideas to retrofit my own.

I *think* the sliding lens is adjust it from a floodlight to a spot light, you might want to put that back in place. Either way, super cool.

My secondary school still uses these with some other vintage strand lights. Not had the money to upgrade them but they work. Do a better job of heating that hall than lighting it.

Since you added the collimator, I'm guessing you've lost the ability to use gobos, the blades and focus - all of what makes these lights so awesome in a theatre? Have you tried a retrofit that still allows the light to be used as originally intended?

Great video, as usual. Shane, I was curious if airplane runway lights could be retrofitted with LED's. Maybe there's an open bid somewhere for runway lighting?

The regulatory and certification process is more of a hurdle than the technical for aircraft and runway lighting.

I used a cheap dimmable driver. 1.75 amp, 52v and constant current. It's only going to be on for a few hundred hours a year so no point in using a high end one.
