I love how these compilations unlock so many memories. I remember SnackShots, they were delicious, and Golden Churn, which later became Golden Crown. I remember another advert that went: "The Dair Maid, she curtsied and went to see the alderney." I remember the "you only get a hug from a Batchelors mug" song. The one with Sean and his dodgy mate fancying his mum was a bit weird, though!

This makes my soul happy watching these. many i dont remember but lots i do, takes me back to living with my nanny and grandad who have now passed... id do anything to go back, i miss them. Thanks for posting these makes me feel one step closer to them and the good old days ❤

I still can't fathom what they were suggesting in that Flora ad. Are we supposed to put it on our skin or what!? If it's tongue in cheek, it needs to be a bit more overt. 😐

That Heinz chicken soup ad has got me hungry! Good Friday too so no meat for me today. Still love cup a soups, though I think I may ne the only person who buys them these days, they were massive back in the 80's and 90's. Weirdly I seen Cilla Black's grave last week when visiting a late relative at Allerton cemetery in Liverpool. There was a huge campaign for British produce years ago which you don't see anymore. While the thought of eating one nowadays actually makes my stomach turn, imagining the taste of Angel Delight transports me directly back to childhood. And childhood experience makes me find it nigh-on impossible to watch that Golden Churn advert without expecting Willie Rushton's next words to be, "BERK! FEED ME!"

@@RetroSteveUK I used to, and I have no idea how or why I developed a repulsion to it. I would try it now to see if actually I do like it, but that feeling is very hard to overcome.

Cup-a-Soup in granules rather than powdered. Not sure why they discontinued those, and went back to the powdered form! Can't stand the thick sludge that always forms at the bottom of a cup-a-soup no matter how much you stir the damn thing!

I think it was specifically for English apples, at a time when French apples were becoming more widespread in British shops.

I remember when they showed adverts for general items like apples, butter, milk etc. No particular brand. It’s funny how You don’t get that anymore.

The thing that stood out to me was the promotion specifically of *English* Apples...But the flag being used was clearly that of the *United Kingdom* which includes four countries and several protectorates! 🍎🇬🇧🙃 As for me, my choice is clear: _Le pommes Française conforme beau á standards commun Europeén..._ 🍎🇫🇷✅😉

You very rarely saw the English flag back then, apart from when England was playing football or maybe another sport. At least I don't remember it being used much at all. the Union flag was the default.

@@rachel.mcgowan If I remember the early 80s correctly, I think there was a lot of mis-association of the George Cross to the extreme right, so perhaps the UK flag being the default makes sense... ⚖ There are _other_ ways of showing something to be specifically English, though. A depiction of St. George, the English Warrant, a map of England with the orchards marked on it... 💡
