Nice bike. Bought mine of the showroom floor. Replaced the carbs with 29 mm smooth bore Mikuni's with 6" Yoshemora stacks. Good luck with the build. Rich K
You might want to check out Webike! Japan. They sell several swingarms for air cooled Z’s - not cheap, but some very nice products. ZRX swingarm, as suggested previously, is a pretty common swap on KZ and Z-1 models. I have purchased numerous products from Webike! for my 1975 Z-1B and 1978 Z1-R and they are very reputable to deal with and offer some of the coolest aftermarket/performance products for these bikes.
@@MotoRestoFL may I recomend, Redline Cycle Service Illanoy US and Z1 parts Tasmania Aust' Both Brilliant. Can I also just, mension that the Z1R is suppose to/ designed to run on the old ( can no longer get ) super fuel/leaded fuel. So the jetting will never be correct but close to usually dose it. I usually just run mine alittle "fat". Just hoping to help. Cheers
I went from knowing basically nothing about the kz1000 I’m picking up in a couple of days to know how to tear the engine apart diagnose the issue re assembly the engine tune jet and synchronize the carbs from this one playlist. I wish there was someone like you when I started my rx7 restoration.
Thanks. Consider subscribing and please share and like videos! RU-vids algorithms are unfair to smaller channels. They always favor larger channels with more subscribers and views.
Never get things powder coated, the material oxidises under the paint and peels off. Powder coating is beneficial for the manufacturer not for the end user.
I was worried until I found your channel and this playlist. The bike I’m picking up is in mint condition and has 37k original miles I know it was well taken care of while it was being used by the previous owner but he passed away 17 years ago my new 1977 kz1000 hasn’t been started or taken on a ride in at least that long If not longer.
This is the same bike that the motor was sent out to someone else, is that right? Are you sure about those shocks.😆 Just shitin ya man sense you mentioned it. I know it's to each his own, but that color on that bike, just not my cup of tea. The bike looks great don't get me wrong, and you done a excellent job on it. Thanks for the video, and I will be waiting for the check in the mail for the help 🤭lol.
Spacers aren’t the problem. That’s the easy part. The Z1-R frame is different than that era KZ1000 standard. There’s a difference in where the rear brake pivot is welded to the frame. Boxy swing arm hit that spot. Maybe. Haven’t tried yet.
No, it's the original seat. Customer brought it to a local upolstery shop and told him what he wanted. They reworked new foam to specs he gave them and then they made the cover. 99% of seats of this vintage are like that, just a seat pan would be the OEM part, foam and covering are built atop the pan.
