Vinyasa Flow Yoga for Balance (Firefly) is a 40 Minute Workout with Firefly (Titibasana) and other arm balances for an intermediate to advanced class. Thank you to Nanosplanet and The Light Wizard (look for them on Instagram) for requesting Titibasana (firefly) and Mayerasana (peacock). Mitchell Smith also requested "crazy transitions." I did a couple that I think are on the crazy side...although I'd need to practice more to put in additional ones. :-) As always, please pay attention to how your body feels as you move through this practice. Rest whenever you would like to. Push the pause button to rest or to try poses several times. Remember...this is your practice! Make it fun for you. The quote is about staying in the moment:
"Time isn't precious at all, because it is an illusion. What you perceive as precious is not time but the one point that is out of time: the Now. That is precious indeed. The more you are focused on time--past and future--the more you miss the Now, the most precious thing there is." Eckhart Tolle from The Power of Now: A guide to Spiritual Enlightenment. The Power of Now is an excellent book that I highly recommend. Remember that any fear we experience is usually in the future and any anger or resentment we feel is usually from something that happened in the past (even if it's very recent past). When we can stay in the present moment, or the Now, we experience peace. Yoga helps us to stay in the Now.

Leslie, I have been watching you for 5 years. I am 56 years old, and did this workout today for the first time. It wasn't perfect, but I tried every single pose- I love your videos. I love your comments and encouragement, and I love your perspective and reminders of being in the NOW. Thank you!

I can definitely incorporate some more challenging flows! Have you tried the hour long Ashtanga Intro? You may like that one also. :)

AMAZING! Super fun and challenging! I combined it a little bit with a month-long arm balance/general balance intensive I'm following, and successfully started three different arm balances (meaning 1 breath), which is a HUGE first! :) So fun! Thank you!

This was really advanced for me! I managed to hold my handstand for a few extra seconds (yay!) and do a shoulder press pose which I could hold for the first time ever! This was also good for improving my splits :) I'm not quite firefly or peacock pose ready, but it was nice to try them and I have saved this video to try again in the future when I have made more progress. Thank you, as always.

so so sooo, fun! i first did this flow a few months ago and really struggled through it. in the meantime, i've started dedicating every thursday to arm balances (partially to get better but really just because as i get better they're increasingly fun!) and just came back to this for the second time. it was encouraging how much improvement i saw, both in the balances i've mainly practiced since then and also in the ones i haven't touched since the last time i did this flow (which shows me that i'm building overall strength and courage and not just mastering particular poses). again, thank you for rocking my world. :)

quite challanging practice with lots of funny and hard! transitions, bakasana, scissors, tittibasana, mayurasana, tripod headstand from wide legged forward fold, jumps to handstands...

LOVE this one (too)! Alot of fun things in there and great instructions as always :) So awesome you let us try out the handstand-flip-over, and loved how you instructed it! I didn't dare doing it today, was a bit unfocused and somewhat short on time (but wanted to squeeze this new class in either way, and I'm happy I did), so I'm def looking forward to re-doing this class many times and play around with the flip-over :) Yay! You've got a beautiful advanced practice in each and every video, love the mindful surefooted calmness that you radiate - as well as your great instructions for us following along (and might not yet be able to, or know how to, do everything fully). Also loving how you are laid back about the work-in-progress. Thats one of the funnest parts in the whole practice - having fun along the (more or less challenging) way to more and more progress!

I'm not sure I would classify this as "beginner" but it was awesome! It was really hard to follow and a great workout. Even if I'm able to hold the pose for a second, I feel pretty good about it. Lesley, you're like the Obi Wan of Yoga, except prettier and not wearing a robe or carrying a lightsaber. :)

A solid level 3 practice, which as usual with Fightmaster, I had to pause several times and it took me 50-55 minutes vs 40. Note strong flexible wrists are needed to do the advanced poses.

I really love the transitions in this class! It's a tiny bit fast paced, especially for learning. I think you noticed that too, as you were telling us to pause very often. The same class, stretched out to about 1h would be perfect!

Wow that class felt so good. I sometimes get sloppy during my yoga practice so I come back to your videos and I feel so great every time. I loved the difficulty of this practice and that you added a backbend and some splits to it. Thank you so much for posting :)

A great fun class. Lesley, could you do a class focussing on the transition of Wild Thing to Urdva Dhanurasana? I think I could achieve this but I have a bit of a mental block how to change the orientation of my hands! Thanks :-)

Mitchell I'm not sure if 2 thank u or tell u ur nuts 😂 I'm NOT good at arm balances so I've stayed away from them. (I know I know😏) I've never tried or even attempted 2 do any of these arm balances especially with these crazy transitions. Now I would like 2 ask the amazing Fightmaster yoga if you could puullzzzzz do an hour long class of heart openers & backbends. This thing kicked my butt but I surprised myself when I was able 2 do some of the arm balances. I will continue practicing this now that I'm not scared anymore.

Nice video, idk why I'm here cause I'm a guy but I'm flexible so I tried the back bend and got it no problem, I like putting my foot behind my head while standing or sitting or putting both feet behind my head cause it freaks people out

+Shaun Williams It's fun to be flexible!! The challenge for most flexible people is to be sure to engage the muscles as you stretch to be sure that the stretching doesn't go too far to cause injury! :-)

This is definitely an advanced class...gosh...can't accomplish many of poses, but that's okay..I guess I am just not ready yet.

this is a great class which I hope one day I will be able to achieve! How long did it take you to become this advanced? I can do pretty much all arm balances, but peacock doesn't seem to be working for me, and if I get into it I always and up in more of a ganda bherundasana rather than the peacock pose :/ also with firefly pose I don't think my hips are that flexible to stretch the legs out, or am I doing something wrong? But thank so much for the peace your classes bring to me and the self of achievement I attain when I complete them! x

I loved this video when I did it yesterday but then I noticed that I have a huge problem and I don't know what to do, I hope you can help Lesley. I really want to concentrate on back and hip openers because those are the two most important for a contorcionist and dancer, but then you released some awesome videos like twists, this one, balance, and all the arm balances that also help a lot, and I don't know what to do and how to organiza myself or what is better :( Please Help. PS. I could do 2 a day or more but I really want to stay with 1 a day or I don't know what is better.

***** Yeah I know the importance of balancing all the body. I only do Yoga 5 days monday to friday thats why I had the problem of doing 2 hips and 2 back and just 1 in another body part :/ So I wanted to find another way to organize it.

Great Class! I had so much fun doing, it really helped so much forget everything and just focus on what happening on my mat, not only that but helped me keep my mind calm. It was the first time doing titibasana so I took it slowly and did it with a support of a low object without pushing my legs too high. I have a question, its not related to this class, but is it normal to feel a discomfort (light pain) on my lateral knee ligament while doing compass pose or prep for eight angle pose? Thank you so much for this Lesley!

The pain is probably caused from a tight IT band. Please don't go so deep if you feel pain in the knee. We never want to stretch the knees. :)

I can do Bakasana but it really really hurts on my arms as the skin is pulled by my knees so I can do it just for seconds. Is it normal? Do I do something wrong? I hope you can help me. Your lessons are great I am so addictive to them!

+Promthanius I can totally relate...mine feel that way too sometimes. Keep trying and use your belly muscles the most...draw your belly in and up and let your upper back round a little...it takes time, keep practicing!

I didn't think I could do firefly either, but in my second try I held it for 5 seconds with almost straight legs! :) So just try to do your best, and you might surprise yourself. If not today, then I guarantee you it will happen tomorrow!

I love your classes but why are there so many vinyasas? It feels like they take up 75% of the class and create a frantic pace. I'm sorry to complain, but I love your classes and hope you can offer some without constant vinyasas.

I agree. I did not like too. For example, 34:05 that`s exactly should be done BEFORE leg splits!!! The leg muscles were not well warmed up and prepared for leg splits on 17th and 18th minute. Can be traumatic to persons who not involved in yoga daily & weekly. And pigeon pose shall be PRIOR to leg splits also. I see other mistakes as well, basically. In addition, too much talking in vid...
