Hey Kendall, good to see you snag that Alan Jackson from VMP. I have been a member for a few years now and have only had a couple of issues, and they are very quick to resolve any problems. The swap feature has worked great for the most part. I did wait a little too long one time and missed out on the swap window, but oh well. The new Pearl Jam is pretty damn amazing! I'm just a casual PJ fan, and I was blown away by the sound and the songs on this album the first time we gave it a spin at the shop. I couldn't agree with you more about Mike's playing being the highlight. The riffs, the heavy tone, it set everything up for a fantastic listen.

Sounds like we have the same tastes and thoughts with PJ in general and yeah this album blew me away because I had no thoughts or desire to buy it when it was first announced or came out but when I heard it I just had to. Now it’s probably my favorite thing that’s come out so far this year! Appreciate that feedback as always Billy!
I’m an on/off VMP person. When it’s good, it can be excellent, but when it’s not…..ooof. Their mailers are still like playing Russian roulette with split seams or dings, and if you get a pressing without a warp, you should run out and buy a lotto ticket that same day (if you know what I mean).
Yikes! Well I’m 1 for 1 on everything so far. Pressing was good and mailer was good, I have no seam splits or anything but I’m sure they wanted to make a good first impression 😂. Now I know what to look out for though. I appreciate the feedback sir.
The record store day of dark matters also has a booklet of the lyrics. I wonder if the other versions also have it. I’m trying to justify that RSD price tag.
Honestly I’m not so sure there was much of a price difference between the RSD version or just the regular black one. For me I was glad to get the special color one and usually I don’t care about that but for some reason I did with this one.
I've tried two subscription services. Magnolia Records was pretty good - like VMP they had some cool exclusives like signed copies and occasionally ran some good sales. They were also very easy to swap out records you didn't want for something else from their store. Only quit them when I had to get back on a budget. I then tried VNYL because they were among the cheapest, but didn't care for them that much. Even though they did a decent job with their curation and included personalized notes, most of their records were from up and coming indie artists I didn't really care about. I did get a few good albums from them, but I'd say it was about 50/50 so I dropped them. Hard to say if the services are worth it as it depends on your personal budget - I did enjoy the surprise of the new albums every month. In hindsight I could have better spent some of that money on albums I really wanted, but at the same time I did wind up with some gems that I never would have bought otherwise. So it's a wash for me. Also can't wait to check out that new Pearl Jam, have heard nothing but good things!
I’ve bought from Magnolia before but never subscribed and I’ve never heard of VNYL. Only reason I’ve tried VMP is because of what they are releasing. Now I totally agree with you on the budget thing so this may only last a short time and if people tell they’ve had issues as well then that will be another nail in the coffin. For now it’s only been one record for one month and so far so good. Also get that PJ it’s great!
Bought the RSD version of "Dark Matter" album and it's the most satisfying PJ album since the self titled 2006 album. The last album was kinda of bluh which was disappointing because when I heard "Dance Of The Clairvoyants" that song got me excited because it sound like PJ was going for a new sound but it didn't go any further. So I'm glad the band going in this direction with their music on their new album.
Yeah I basically checked out after Yield, I think I said something different in the video but after the 90’s I don’t know I just wasn’t really feeling it. Not to say they didn’t have some good stuff but this album just seems to put it all back together! Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the comment!
@@spindoctorandhisvinylmayhem Back in the 90's "Yield" is an album I enjoyed & still listened to this day(it's on my IPhone) & bought the vinyl version when they released it(I did the same with "No Code", "Live On Two Legs", two or three vinyl versions of "Ten" & three vinyl versions of "Vs."(in my humble opinion PJ's best album). The same with the 2006 self titled PJ album, hell I even bought a vinyl version of Eddie's solo album "Ukulele Songs". I want to own the vinyl version of "Rearview Mirror" 1 & 2. I passed on getting the vinyl version of "Vitalogy" because I only enjoyed a few tracks like "Better Man", "Not For You", "Nothingman", "Corduroy" & "Immortality". Then come to find out they kicked out Dave Abbruzzese out of the band. I still can't believe they got rid of their best drummer. As much as I love Eddie, I never forgave him for making the band choose him or me stance. Anyway I going back to listened to the albums I didn't enjoyed with fresh ears. "Binaural" has five tracks I enjoyed, I'm going to listen to "Riot Act" with fresh ears soon. Thanks for the response. Peace!!!
